Do Your Teenage Boys Still Wear Pajamas?

Yes my DH is a nude sleeper and both our sons (16 and 18) have become nude sleepers as well.

I think because OP asked pertaining to her son.

This plus in general I think wearing less or going to bed naked seems to be more a of a guy thing whereas pajamas are more popular with girls into adulthood. In our house the women/girls all wear some sort of sleepwear and the men/boys all wear nothing. I can’t imagine myself or any of my girlfriends having gone totally nude in bed as teenagers, obviously aside from the occasional summer heat wave.

My experience exactly!

Yes so why not just ask him diretcly and get it over with.

How about just asking him what he wants to wear? What does your DH wear?

Our three sons (11, 15 and 17) haven’t worn pajamas since they were about 7 or 8, at which time they all started sleeping in just their underwear. Youngest still does, and the older two ditched the underwear somewhere around their 13th birthdays and have slept in the nude ever since.

I was coming to say the same? What’s going on here? Slow lives?

Yes or have your DH asked him if you think that would be less embarrassing.

I usually buy pjs for all our kids each year, but DH seems to think that our son (14 yo) is getting too old and it’s a waste of money, and our son hasn't asked for any new ones this year.

Why is this conversation still happening?

I hope the older teens’ sheets are washed a couple of times a week.

Because people like you and me are still replying to it and it’s getting sent back up to the top each time.

“So, I need to go shopping for some clothes, and your dad and I have noticed that you boys have outgrown your pjs again. Do you still wear them? I’m happy to keep buying them for you if you want, but it’s also perfectly fine for young men your age to sleep in only underwear or even in the nude, if that’s something you’ve tried and enjoy. No pressure either way. Just let me know by Friday.”

If you think that would in any way be awkward coming from their mother, just have DH say it. Easy peasy. Sometimes all parents and kids need is frank and open communication without embarrassment.

So OP, have you asked him?

Have you talked to your son and have you stopped buying pajamas for him? And ask you DH why he thinks DS is too old to wear them?

Dear lord.
Take your kid to the mall, amazon, wherever give them a budget and tell them to buy their own clothes. If you want, look over them before letting them buy anything. Or, ask your kid what he wants to wear at night.

I know it's proberly silly but I was a little taken aback by this but reading the comments here, I guess it's not that big of a deal and not uncommon for teen boys to do so.

+1 With my DS (14).
