New Responsive Design for DCUM

Anonymous
I like it! Text is easier to read. Worked better on my iPhone.

I really like it! I use DCUM almost exclusively on my phone, and this is so much easier.

Same here, It's great on my phone but i prefer the old layout on pc.

If you can be clear and detailed about what you don't like about the pc layout, I will consider making changes. I've been making tweaks all day.

It's mostly the size of the text, With the old layout I'm able to fit more on my screen.

This is great. Thanks, Jeff!

I love how the replay is way easier now.

I'm going to collect a list of modifications to consider. I'll add this to the list. In the meantime, you can use the legacy site:

I hope the legacy version will not be removed because I can't use the new view of the site.

Have you considered updating your browser? or using it with a different browser?

Agree about checking how many of us go to the old site right away - really dislike the new one

I use DCUM almost exclusively on my phone. Much prefer the old layout so please keep it as an alternative. I like being able to see more on the screen even if the font is smaller.

For the phone, the layout is better. However, I use the laptop more often, and I am finding that it is really tough on the eyes. Someone mentioned white space. Maybe it's that, but I am inclined to not use dcum now...maybe this is a good thing?

If it doesn’t nest the reply it’s not helpful.

If there are 20 posts quoted in the previous post, you may not want to quote all of that text. It is less important now that we collapse quotes, but it used to be important and I still think there are times when you might not want to quote (e.g. you are replying to a post that contains a bunch of images or embedded tweets). It is a pain to delete a lot of text on a phone.

What about “quote” (one post) and “quote all”? There is already reply and quick reply at the bottom.

On a Dell laptop, using chrome, and the font size and spacing on the topic list is hard to read. Browser set to 100% Zoom.

One thing to try might be the column width settings on
Subject/First Post; Replies/Views; Last Post.

The entire table is narrower than the legacy version. The column for the "hot" topic icon is wider, and the two columns "Replies/Views" and "Last Post" take up as much space as the previous four columns.

I think if the "Subject" column were wider it would force fewer topics on to two lines.

I don't like all the ads popping up in the middle of scrolling. Also while comments are easier to read I think the thread list is harder to read.

How do we get back to the old one?
