I think that poster means, who cares what we think, we are not potential employers of St. Andrews' graduates, we are just a bunch of fat moms. AmIright? |
Speak for yourself. |
I am not fat. |
Correct |
You're totally missing the point. High rankings in "Graduate Prospectus" and "Career after 15 months" suggest that employers see St. Andrews as reputable. How random parents on a DC thread and layman in England view a school doesn't matter. Everyone is subject to some type of bias (as evident by the countless comments on this post). The UK league table rankings/measures and hiring patterns of top firms are the closest we can get to an unbiased understanding of the current reputation of St Andrews. |
| Climate is no joke. |
| I was educated in the UK. I am a hiring manager. I am not a mom. I would quite happily hire almost any STEM graduate from U. St Andrews, because I know they will have solid knowledge of their subject and (more importantly) will perform well on the job. All of the jobs I hire for require a STEM degree, so other degrees are outside my ken. |
From a no more reliable source than the urban dictionary (https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=stoxbridge )
Stoxbridge - term is used to collectively refer to the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge & St Andrews University, the three most prestigious universities in the United Kingdom. Admissions to Stoxbridge is extremely competitive. You can even get a coffee mug for your student. |
I went to Cambridge (B.A.). Graduated in 2002. The only mention of St Andrews was Prince Willam attended. The Varsity match. The Boat Race. Tabs. Scum. Blues. Light Blues. It is Oxbridge and everything else. |
| That was almost a quarter of a century ago |
| this thread goes around and around in a twilight zone kind of madness. will it ever stop? |
GeorgeMasOxBridge is a thing too, as well as DeVrOxBridge, lmao |
| St. Andrews is big here, but it's not considered the No. 3 (behind Oxbridge) in the UK. Others universities such as U of Edinborough and Warrick are considered more rigorous. They just aren't as well known here. What St. Andrews has is a brand name and a 4-year program like the U.S. (Edinborough also has a 4-year program.) |
This is the Twilight Zone: the question you need to ask is, will it ever start? |
Oh dear god in heaven, it is EDINBURGH and it is pronounced Ed. in. bruh. |
