What can you tell me about St. Andrew's?

Reality:

1. St Andrews is not as reputable as Oxbridge.
2. St Andrews has gained reputation the past 25 years through academic excellence and graduate placements.
3. St Andrews is a top 5 UK uni and has a good reputation among US employers.

The End.

Fact 4: excellent local golf courses.

Yes, and everything I said remains. 25 years in a system of 800+ year old universities is but a flash.

Sure- but does the past really matter for future outcomes in this case? A firm will hire students based un a universities current reputation, not it's reputation 25+ years ago.

My kid attends and loves it. He was top academically at a big 3 with high ACT and really wanted the UK for college. He loves the vibe, the town, having friends from all over the world (but many of his core group are also Americans). He travels all over Europe on breaks. He enjoys being able to only take classes in his major and two other areas of interest. It gets academically intense the last two years -as you only take classes in your major years 3 and 4. It's been amazing for him but he is highly independent and intrepid. The school does not hand hold at all. You have to figure out everything for yourself. That said the town is safe wonderful and welcoming.
