Omg you can’t be that dense. It’s very common for Africans to go by initials due to their names being very long and hard to pronounce.

To add his name is Sikiru “SK” Alagbada. There is no anonymity in this show. They all have instagrams and many media appearances.

Sikiru is not at all difficult to pronounce. If we can pronounce Gideon and McKenzie, we can also pronounce Sikiru!

Very funny. You think so because you’ve seen the name Gideon before. I can assure you more than 60% of the people reading it in their heads still are saying it wrong. My niece’s name is Riki and is NEVER pronounced right. My friend’s last name is Carlyle and he’s always referred to by Mr. Carly. of They’re struggling with Zanab’s name. Are you really saying people are not allowed to go by nicknames?

I have a ton of severe learning disabilities and barely graduated from high school. I'd pronounce Riki like it rhymes with tiki hut. I don't know what's wrong with people not being able to pronounce Carlyle - maybe they're just rushing+stupid,? A friend of mine named Wendy told me people have a lot of trouble with her name too. I can pronounce people's names, because I listen and try. I ask when I need to. Sikiru really just isn't difficult. It's unfamiliar, but it's not hard to make the sounds that make up that name at all.

Do you know that the way you are saying it is the correct way? With the correct emphasis?

Do YOU? Do you know him personally so you've confirmed pronunciation with him?

No I don't. So I know I have no idea how to say his name and would not therefore presume it is 'easy' to say it

Whatever. I'm sure the producers just asked him to simplify his name for the general masses. Give it a rest. You're not more woke than me, but great attempt.

You are arguing with more than one person, that is my first post in this chain. I just think you sound really arrogant and really full of yourself to presume that you should get to decide how he presents himself. Like I said in a different comment, and my first on this topic, Zanab used her name, and the syllabic emphasis of her name is different and she wasn't forced to go by a nickname. I think you're looking for problems that aren't there and making this about you.

Wow, Matt is really volatile! He scares me! I hope Colleen sees this soon and doesn't say yes. Or that he just ends it because he's just looking for a reason for it not to work.

Yeah, that won't last. Brennon is a good guy, just not the right guy for Alexa. Alexa isn't so in love with Brennon that she's going to enjoy living his lower middle class lifestyle. And although Raven redeemed herself a bit in episodes 5=7, her saying that SK, despite being in school across the country should pay for her to live in Dallas and continue her lifestyle, was ridiculous. She gets massages, facials, personal trainer, $500 hair each month, etc. Does she have a ton of debt? Raven teaches pilates and is a shot girl - how the hell is she affording a lifestyle with all that fancy stuff? SK should cut ties and go to CA. He needs a woman who'd be happy to move to CA with him. Nobody who just met him will be willing to essentially support him for two years during school (even without taking on grad school debt).

Raven is shallow and narcissistic. Sk cabin definitely do better, not to mention someone who is on his level intellectually not just a hard body without much depth or thought.

I think she said he should contribute to her household. But whatever, it's still ridiculous. I want to know what she's spending $500 on because her hair does not look great. And I'm biracial like her and have a similar type of hair. She's just throwing money away.

Exactly. I am thinking this PP’s severe learning disabilities are preventing her from grasping why many people (especially those from other countries where sometimes the letter i is pronounced 3 different ways) opt to use nicknames. Not to mention it’s none of her damn business and she’s being very weird about this.

I mean even Zanab is being pronounced Zinib by contestants including her fiancé. PP is really trying to make “SK” a big deal. I wonder if it was a white fraternity boy named JJ, DJ, RJ, EJ,or TJ, she wouldn’t have even mentioned anything yet alone imply there’s something malicious behind it.

VERY WEIRD, PP. Back off.

No, the producers didn’t ask him to shorten his name. It’s is preferred name. It’s very common in his community. Just stop already. Or do you really think when he graduated Baylor in 2013, he went by SK by the off chance he may be on a Netflix dating show in 10 years that wasn’t even around because he wanted to be private and secretive?!!!!!

At this point, you double downing in this is just racist.

Re Zay I actually thought maybe this is like, how its pronounced? I mean Cole met her in the PODs and she probably introduced herself to him. Although I would have thought it was Zay-nab and her nickname is Zay.

Cole also pronounced Colleen's name funny though (COAL-een instead of call-EEN) with the emphasis on the wrong syllable so maybe he just has a regional accent that is making him emphasize the names incorrectly.

Agreed but even Zay’s stepmom also pronounces her name Zinib. All this does is reiterate earlier point that not every name is pronounced as it appears (especially from an Anglo perspective). It’s no wonder many people adopt nicknames or even change their name all together to reflect a more accepted American name. Hint to other PP, your nail tech’s real name is probably not Rachel or Sam but it makes it easier for them to go by those American names.

That PP should just eat the crow already and apologize.

DP here, I don't think the pp meant for you to take that part about an apology, literally. Obviosuly she was just making a point.
