Starting rate for six day a week nanny schedule

I have always gone to 5pm Sunday service. We are Protestant. It's a peaceful, spiritual way to wind down the weekend.

-Raise your rate
-Offer a flexible schedule (let candidate choose the hours)
-Throw every perk you can out there- can they be added to your gym membership, phone plan, Netflix account, etc etc
-Lower your qualifications (or be flexible on them)

Just on schedule alone you are going to eliminate:
-Anyone with kids
-Most with grandkids
-Anyone that likes to go out on Fri or Sat nights
-Anyone that likes to spend weekends away
-Anyone that has a significant other they primarily see on weekends
-Anyone that likes to travel

You are also going to eliminate anyone that goes to church because you need a nanny Sunday morning

Many churches have Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon/early evening services.

I am Protestant and I know of no protestant churches with services on Saturday evening. Jewish services are on Saturday but I suspect there are very few Jewish nannies.

Also I just did a quick search for "Presbyterian churches with Sunday evening services" and there are Presbyterian churches with Sunday evening searches.

I SPECIFICALLY said SATURDAY evening services. Knowing how to read but with no comprehension is the same as being illiterate.

I now work Tu-Thurs-Sat. 7-7 with 2 paid 30-minute breaks. Sweet deal. Nurses have always been in demand and you can write your own ticket. Both my teen sons are planning on nursing careers. It's a perfect job for those planning on raising a family.

That nanny job sounds like a dream. If I were leaving nursing I would apply for it

This may be good for you but it isn't for patients because if they are admitted on your third day, most of you are tired and cranky. I know this from personal experience.

And I know of no one like this. We don't work consecutive days. We love our jobs. And there is you are, PP , working 5 days a week. Poor you.

What a grouch. Is your name Oscar?

Ah, Nurse Ratchet, the reports of your death were greatly exaggerated.

The above from someone who hates working 5 days a week!

Probably a lawyer. The DC area is filled with them. They are the unhappiest people I have met. So glad we left 2 years ago! Moving to the Delaware beach is the best thing we have ever done. Our kids love it here.

But good for you being able to call yourself out with your "knowing how to read but with no comprehension is the same as being illiterate." Learn to read so you can do better.

I will concede that there is one, and only one, Protestant sect to have Saturday services and that is 7th Day Adventists. Baptists, Methodists. Presbyterian, Episcopalian, Lutheran, etc., have worship services on Sunday morning (generally 2 services) and some also have Sunday evening services. Catholicism is not protestant.

No one cares what you "concede" to The original statement a pp (you?) made is that by requiring Sunday morning hours, OP was eliminating "anyone that goes to church." There are MANY people whose church holds services at times other than Sunday morning. When this was pointed out to you, you started ranting about illiteracy. You were wrong, period.

So $40 an hour, five hours a day Tuesday thru Sunday, 6/7AM to 11AM/12PM. A leased car and car insurance for nanny personal and eventually work use; full healthcare coverage; two weeks off for vacation plus one weekend off a month. And all the pastries she wants.

Sound good now?

Live-in nanny here. I'd love it without the car and that type of position might even convince me to live out.

If you’re not an early bird or are a Sunday church goer, this wouldn’t be your dream job but I think it’s a great offer for the right nanny,

Great, you work 6 days a week.

I work 7, thanks

IRS considers that car taxable income.

Not if the nanny uses it for the job. Pick up formula and diapers, drop off outgrown clothes, then it'll be fine.

Anonymous wrote:PP here- the point I was trying to make by saying no one iwht their own kids would be interested is that assuming their kids are in school full days M-F, weekend are largely the time that parents get to spend with their kids or the family unit as a whole. If someone is working half days Sat and Sun that immediately takes away half of their family time, missing most sports games, etc.

I would actually love this schedule with elementary schoolers! Partner does drop-off in the morning, I have an hour or so between finishing work to putter and relax, than I can pick my kids up and not have to worry about aftercare, etc. Sure losing weekend mornings would be a trifle annoying but it would be worth it for being free all days after school.

Not at the cost of giving up half your Saturday.

You know millions of people work full days on weekends, right? All those people you see working aren’t childfree.

You know millions of people don’t work 6 days a week. All those people you see out have children or not.

So what’s your point? If those jobs are not for you - those jobs are not for you.

Such a limited mindset on this thread. When you see all the people working on weekends to serve you, do you think they’re all childfree?

So what’s your point, people choose all the time not to work 6 days a week but you are pissy that they don’t. No one has to work 6 days a week because some others do.
Knock yourself out working 6 or 7 days a week if you want. I’m not.

I’m not pissy about anything - in fact, I’m laughing at you! To turn up your nose at a 30 an hour a week job at $40 an hour plus healthcare and a car because of the horror of having to work half days on Saturday and Sunday (with Mondays off and one weekend a month off) is patently ridiculous!

Mondays aren’t off, you pissy idiot. Hence the 6 days a week.

Yes, they are. Tuesday through Sunday, Monday off.

You need to offer a lot more - like $35-$40 an hour. Weekend care requires a HUGE premium.

Off the top of my head?
Friends Meeting of DC: Wed 6-7, Sun 9-10, Sun 10.30-11.30, Sun 6-7
Arlington Temple Methodist: Thurs Noon, Sun 10.30
St. Patrick: M-Sat 12.10, Sat 5.30, Sun 8 Sun 10 Sun noon

Seventh Day Adventists also worship on Saturday. Muslims worship on Friday. Jehovah's Witness are supposed to worship 5 times a week, but that includes home bible study and watchtower, so it's feasible that they could be available. Many, many religious people figure out ways to worship without being locked into 10-noon on Sunday.
