Wow, I never realized how terrible the gap is between in MoCo vs NoVa for jobs

So basically, MoCo relies entirely on govt jobs and some crappy low paying service sector jobs at places like Giant, Safeway, and Target. Meanwhile in NoVa, the top employers are major banks, super high end tech and software companies, top consulting firms, and other major professional services firms. I never knew MoCo was getting its lunch eaten this bad. NoVa has way, way better jobs and a far better diversity of jobs/firms. MoCo relies entirely on govt, clearly has a severe lack of innovative firms that pay high salaries when compared to NoVa, and a large portion of their residents working in very low quality service sector jobs that probably pay just over minimum wage. How is MoCo not doomed with this flimsy of a tax and employer base?

The fact that every third car coming down/back on Georgetown Pike has MD plates told me this a long time ago. That and the traffic from same cars on back roads near the beltway in McLean

+1
If the MD drivers would just learn to drive, it would (partially) make up for them clogging VA roads.

The worst traffic accident that closed the bridge was caused by a VA driver. Just sayin'

VA drivers go buck wild when they leave VA and the fear of the felony is gone.

VA drivers are the worst. We can always spot them up and down 95. They are the ones driving slow in the left lane and blocking traffic.

Lol. No it doesn't..

Yes, it does. My husband has spent his entire career working for private sector biotech companies in MoCo.

MoCo also has way too much suburban office park space which is dying off like malls. VA has many more urban areas, better access to metro, more urban spots for young educated professionals like Clarendon, Ballston etc.

When those young people get married, have kids, they will look for more space.

Ask me how I know.

But for now, they are great for generating income tax, supporting local businesses and rentals and not complaining about schools.

Maybe we can't get a bridge, but can we get a metro line from MoCo to Reston?
At Bles Park in Ashburn, the Potomac is narrower than many houses.

Dear LORD. The metro lines have already brought a ton of trash in from MD.

There is something deeply toxic about the DMV. It shouldn't be a freaking contest. This is one metropolitan area spread over two states and the District. To pit one section against another is stupid.

That being said, I would never live in Nova because it is a series of traffic islands surrounding hideous new builds and strip malls.

Whenever I am on Cape Cod, those from this area visiting stick out like sore thumbs. Look for the a$$hat

See, for example, he car jackings around Pentagon City by the fine young lads from PG and DC.

A bridge would be cheaper and more practical.

Always better to have two ways across instead of one!

Yes, I am from Virginia, specifically Arlington. That is why I know about the car jackings.

What an idiotic post. People in the Tri-State area are even more competitive about where they live and came up with all sorts of put-downs, such as referring to people who don’t live in Manhattan or Westchester as the “bridge and tunnel crowd.”

That being acknowledged, MoCo hasn’t kept up with NoVa, and it’s dissatisfied residents upset with Elrich who tend to point out the growing disparities the most.

Do they, sweetie? Perhaps in your part of Hackensack, but I suspect it's just your own insecurities. Probably why you fit in so well here.

There are certainly some New Yorkers, mostly transplants from places like. .. here... Who think the "right" address is important, whether they think that means being zoned for Rye schools, Bronxville schools, or whether it means living on the Upper West Side vs. Yorkville... But those people don't matter. They don't define the culture. They shuffle between their Goldman offices and their rented Hamptons houses and exist in the same bland stratosphere to which you aspire.

The rest of us call them... "Marks."

LOL, I'm a third party with no dog in this fight but literally every single New Yorker knows and acknowledges the Manhattan/Outer Borough/Jersey hierarchy/rivalry whether seriously or tongue in cheek.

This just smacks of your own insecurity, desperately trying to pretend you're such a socialite the news of the petty rivalries of the peasant classes doesn't even reach you. Let me guess, you've got the Don Draper "I don't even think of you at all" meme queued up and ready to go despite the fact your flop sweat of a Manhattan heiress fanfic proves you care far more than is healthy.
