That would work after vaccines are mandated, but until then it's not enforceable. |
Why wouldn't it be enforceable? |
Masks make it possible? LOL Masks are not mandatory now in classrooms in: UK, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium (12 & under), Russia, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria (up to 5th grade), most of South America, etc. |
How would teachers know who is vaccinated or not? You expect teachers to track all of that? Until vaccines are mandated, masks come off everyone after community transmission levels are low (blue). |
It's not that hard to keep track of. Bosses did it for their workforce from May through July when we could voluntarily show proof of vaccination in order to not wear a mask at work. It's just not that hard. To be clear, I agree that a vaccine mandate is ideal, but I think it could be a long long ways off. I don't accept that something is "not enforceable" just because it's hard(ish). |
You expect MS/HS teachers to keep track of 100s of kids? Practically impossible. |
And it's exactly this kind of thinking that is the reason we had virtual school almost all of last year. Ask the school system to be even mildly adaptive to hardship and they throw up their hands. Learned helplessness. |
I am truly sorry to anything who thinks that having a protected list of students for each period of your day who don't need to wear masks is "practically impossible." Life must be real tough. |
The simple solution is "masks are not mandatory."
Masks are not mandatory now in classrooms in: UK, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium (12 & under), Russia, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria (up to 5th grade), most of South America, etc. |
Until all the kids are vaccinated, masks will be mandatory. Get used to it. |
Exactly. These Smart Restart and COVID fear porn will never say what their end game is for an endemic virus that will be here forever. Here's Joseph Allen, Professor at Harvard who advised Arlington on its reopening this spring (and is one of the top professors on healthy buildings in the world): “What’s causing all the confusion, the infighting, the disagreement — it’s really a lack of goal setting,” said Joseph G. Allen, a Harvard University expert on maintaining health inside buildings, including schools. “Zero Covid in schools? Well, that may not be possible.” |
Teacher here. I don't care about goal setting and I don't think Covid will be eliminated. However, I can tell you without a doubt that I will not work in a classroom with unmasked and unvaccinated children. I will not. And there are a lot of people like me. Therefore, if you think that you can bully teachers into accepting your position then you're wrong because we will walk out. We're already stretched as far as we can go. One more little push and there could well be a mass exodus. So be careful what you wish for ... if you want your unvaccinated children to be unmasked in the classroom then you should be prepared to teach them yourselves. My health and wellbeing is more important to me than the education of your child. ![]() |
Oh look it's one of APE's favorite Covid denying expert! |
Really out of touch to say that those who want masks are engaging in fear porn. And why does APE always attack SR? And assume that everyone who wants masks must be in SR? Makes them sound so desperate. |
I'm a parent and I'm totally with you. Every parent and student I know is totally on board with masks. Don't pay attention to APE - they are just a few out of touch angry parents venting on DCUM. They don't even dare to speak about their antimasking out loud, even they must know how crazy they sound. |
