You knew Harrison Ford and his first wife back in the day, were great friends and wanted them to stay together, so you named your kids after your two best friends. The marriage didn't last, but your children are best friends, go to public school in Falls Church City or to Field, and you're a free-spirited, tight-knit family that doesn't mind a little quirky fun now and again.

Very traditional. Teddy probably takes after his grandfather and father, who are also named Edward. Henry likes to play lacrosse for GDS and Teddy rows for Georgetown Prep. You came to DC from Manhattan, after your husband, who works in investment management, wanted a quieter scene. You like to garden and live in Chevy Chase (MD side).

Here are mine, with middle names (oldest to youngest):
William (goes by Michael)
Oliver
Howard

Oliver and Howard are twins

You think of yourself as traditional, but in reality, you're very go-with-the-flow, which many parents in your PTA program appreciate. Your kids go by shortened versions of their names (Matt, Kate, Liz) and are normal kids. Matt is 6 and thinks girls have cooties, but he'll be the first to marry of your kids and his wife will be calm and friendly; she'll remind you of yourself. Kate is 9 and aspires to be like Kate Middleton and wants to be a princess who does good for others. Liz is 7 the shyest but will blossom into a kind young lady. They'll attend VT, UVA and WM, respectively -- you ruled out private universities since the kids are so close in age.

They're twins who quarrel like mad. Emma steals Samantha's toys and Samantha kicks and screams, sometimes letting her frustrations out on Emma. However, they'll go to the same high school (NCS or Holton) and will become inseparable best friends when they attend the same college. Emma will move to NYC to work in journalism and Samantha will work in HR for a big investment bank. They'll still visit you and Dad every few months and will have plenty of relatives in Connecticut to reconnect with on the weekends on your side. Right now, though, you're trying to keep the peace in the back seat of the car on your way to dance practice because Emma wants to listen to Hozier on Hot 99.5 and Samantha wants to listen to Sarah Fraser on another station.

DD Rebecca
DS Jacob

(Both born in the mid-90s if that changes things!)

Jacob and Rebecca grew up in one of the older homes in McLean and lived in the same house all their lives. Their parents are from the Northern Virginia area and went to Oakton and then JMU, where they met. Mom volunteers a lot and has an interior design business on the side; Dad is a lawyer. Jacob wants to play guitar and Rebecca is happy dancing to the tunes he plays. He eventually drops guitar for BMX biking around age 8. Rebecca continues to read a lot, especially about animals, and wants to be a vet but ultimately decides to work for a non-profit and help others in war-torn countries. Jake, meanwhile, has no idea what he wants to go and goes to Mason, but then has a breakthrough, transfers to UVA and works to become a surgeon.

You had waited for eons for the new Italian Store to open in Arlington's Westover Village. It wasn't really the reason you bought that cute colonial in Lacey Forest, but when you heard that the store was going in, your heart sang. You are a Connecticut girl, and not rich Greenwich, but working class out of Bridgeport. Your paternal Nonna came to your duplex every Sunday after mass to make gravy, gnocchi and whatever type of ravioli your Poppa wanted that week. Your three brothers and two male cousins wanted nothing to do with Nonna because they said she smelled funny (which she did) because she drank absinthe to relieve her arthritis.

Your Momma was a choir director and was never home on Sunday. She worked at three different churches, including the new Unitarian church where your poppa and uncles did the brick work -- and the plumbing on the side. The Unitarians didn't care who did the work, just as long as it was open before their big rally on Earth Day.

This was just as well as your Momma and Nonna did not see eye to eye. Actually not many people saw eye to eye with Nonna but you were a firm believer in Judy Blume books and wanted everyone to like you. So from the age of 8 you tried to help Nonna on Sunday. She was bossy and would give you the evil eye if you didn't peel the skins from the hot tomatoes correctly or let any flour fall on the floor. But you learned how to make a mean tomato gravy that got you every boyfriend you ever had, including your DH. Despite Nonna's telling you that you had small tits and would never find a man with your skinny butt, you were married exactly three years from the day you served homemade pappardelle to your DH--- who is from Greenwich.

Flash forward four more years, and you are both nicely settled in well paying jobs, living a good life in Arlington and pregnant with your first child. The night the Westover Italian Store opened your husband walked your nine months pregnant self into the store and two minutes later, you received a call from your Poppa saying Nonna had died. You couldn't cry, you couldn't do anything as you stood in a puddle and realized your water had broken. Your DH got you to nearby Virginia Hospital Center where your baby was born the next morning. How could you not name her after your Nonna -- Maria -- so you did.

OK, Nonna dying and the water breaking in the store were a bit over the top, but the rest of this is a masterpiece!

You wanted to go for unique names for your kids, since you see yourself as pretty unique yourself. You were a theater kid in high school and still do community theater at Del Ray and are all about letting your kids express themselves, whether that be splashing paint on the walls or running around and going nuts during the backyard BBQ for your husband's work colleagues. Kids go to public school and do hipster activities in their spare time -- pottery, etc. Lily is the baby and gets along with her brothers.

He's a manly man who likes lacrosse, soccer, baseball and football and plays (or played) them all at Langley or Bethesda-Chevy Chase (maybe Maret or Potomac). He's a man of few words and likes to read a lot about war and political strategy in his spare time. He'll graduate summa cum laude from Georgetown with a degree in business and will work at Deloitte's commercial practice within 5-10 miles of his parents, who he's very close to. Mom works for the government as a higher-up for the Department of Energy and is a country club member and in the Junior League. Dad likes to golf (actually golf, not be one of those guys who walks around in a cheap polo and has a poor swing and joined the golf course at a social climbing country club), knows his fine scotches and antiques and is an ex-Navy SEAL.
