I think the correct counter point is to bring up St. Louis in cold weather.

Across all age groups (96 Teams) only 11 ranked in the top 25. Don't waste your time and money flying to Norco and FL each year. Very low level environment.

What you don't understand is the top GA teams rarely get a chance to play other highly ranked teams except in cross league tournaments and events.

What this means is you either have to pay bunch of $$$ + headhunt in tournaments or you need to beat other GA teams by 6-8 goals consistently in league games.

Top Hat does both of what I listed. Some of the other GA clubs don't want to spend crazy $$$ on tournaments and don't believe in running up the score on lesser teams. This hurts them in ranking but sets up upset situations with highly ranked teams in other leagues when they play them.

Tophat isn’t scared. They want to join ECNL. Old wound/politics keep them out. ECNL should have let them in a couple years ago to serve as the death blow to GA but they didn’t. Pride.

I doubt they are scared to play against ECNL teams, and I'd imagine they engage in some cross league play. Our oldest daughter played for old FCV and we played plenty of ECNL teams in tournaments and scrimmages. At the time the only ECNL teams in/near this area where we could have a competitive game were Richmond, PDA and to some extent Penn Fusion. The rest of the ECNL teams were similar to playing the other GA teams in the Mid Atlantic.

Whatever you think about those team rankings, go look at the colleges coming. It’s definitely worth going to this event.

I guess all the D1 scouts missed that. Should someone tell Stanford OR maybe these rankings don't mean squat, really ... https://public.totalglobalsports.com/public/event/3787/college-list
