Way too much time on my hands due to injury lately, but I spent hours reading through the website that Baldoni’s lawyers launched that shows alllllll the texts and messages.
BL appears to have spent months and months trying to increase her role and influence from actress to co-writer to editor, then demanding producer credit and then eventually when they tried to draw the line and she didn’t immediately get what she wanted, she apparently threatened not to return to work and then later threatened to opt out of promoting the film. She kept moving the red line over and over again until Justin’s name was removed from the movie and she was permitted to do her own edit.

The one huge mistake that the Wayfarer production company made as far as I can see is that they allowed her to start filming without a signed contract! Like she literally did NOT sign her actress contract so when she made all those threats they had nothing to stand on because she hadn’t actually agreed to anything.
They were figuratively held hostage and at the mercy of her goodwill, or lack thereof.
And that’s a really dumb, costly error.

I suspect that the SA claim was a necessary last resort that Blake and Ryan intended to use to try to wrestle the movie rights away from Baldoni. He wouldn’t sell and they knew the contract between Baldoni and the book author had a morality clause such that an SA claim could void the contract.

Thought this was interesting. Liz Plank, who cohosted the Man Enough podcast with Baldoni and Heath for years and has said nothing publicly about the Lively/Baldoni situation since formally quitting the podcast right after the NYT story, posted this video on TikTok last week:

Basically she's just pointing out that no one should get their news from Candace Owens (and she's right). It's not a commentary on the case but a pretty useful reminder for anyone who wants to seize on the Candace Owens commentary on this situation.

(But also it is killing me that she has said nothing about this situation either way -- what does she think???? I would love her unfiltered opinion on all of it considering her close relationship with Baldoni and Heath and the fact that they discussed ALL of these issues on the podcast at some point -- consent, power dynamics in relationships, how women are treated in media, etc.)

Dude it's okay to think Baldoni is in the right here but let's not go overboard about what this movie was. Colleen Hoover books are trashy romance novels. This was not a "poignant film about domestic violence." If it was, it wouldn't have starred Blake Lively (or, frankly, Justin Baldoni -- he is cheesy).

I mean, come on. This was a romance/tear jerker with a "women's empowerment" bent. It wasn't a serious or realistic or compelling exploration of domestic violence issues.

I agree Taylor is likely to be annoyed to be embroiled here. But their friendship l was clearly real due to the fact that she was involved in the movie at all. And there is just no way Taylor leaks this type of stuff to the press. She didn’t leak about Karlie etc, it would be entirely out of character. She will say nothing and the proof will be in whether they are seen together. Taylor’s camp is like Beyoncé these days, it doesn’t leak.
