There is no negativity with the BF parents about anything because I’m one of them. All the girls that made Capital are excellent players and a great fit for Capital. If you think the private schools don’t have orange or Pride girls on their team, you are delusional. They even have girls that don’t play club

But some of the stuff about BF, just stop. I for one can say it is not me posting anything negatively about your daughters, but I do get tired of grown a$$ men degrading young ladies. All you are doing is embarrassing yourself

If you notice, when BF played YT, none of the FANS from YT complained (yes, there was an unfortunate incident, but I hope this is fully resolved and won’t ever happen again). And now with the Madison parents, nothing but mutual respect. Anytime we have played teams, there is a level of respect. Yes, we are VERY loud (and you know what pal that is) but it is not anything unlike any other schools who are invested in their kids sports).

I believe The real reason people hate BF so much is because we come from a lower set of income that the other high income schools, so we are looked down upon. I’m not saying BF parents are poor, because they are not. What I am saying is that Prince William as a whole is a much poorer county than all of the other surrounding counties

Now, what is interesting about this is that neither Arlington County nor Loudon County parents ever, or rarely disrespect BF on the board. It mostly comes from the Fairfax and Alexandria parents

And yes, we know who most of them are. A couple were former parents (which is unfortunate, because their parents were loved by the team, but they needed change, and change is ok).

So, yes, we as a school at BF have been working hard to gain respect in Northern Virginia as an actual contender. That is probably why you hear so much about us. I know we can be a little much. But in all honesty, we love our girls the same as you do. I will NEVER trash your daughter, and if anything comes out of my mouth that is interpreted that way and you point it out to me, I promise you that I will think about that to understand why it was interpreted that way so it doesn’t happen again. Because the last thing I ever want to do is disrespect your daughters

So, I would very much like to ask that we all talk about lacrosse, trash talk each other in good harmless fun, BUT, today we keep it respectful and all about lacrosse

Now, I know people are going to continue to rip BF apart. So be it. But I will kindly request that if you are going to talk negatively about BF to NEVER talk negatively about a specific player. There has been a ton of talk about our ASU commit (who has been an amazing leader this year) and now the freshman who won the game against Madison. This is not OK. Today is all I ask. Nothing negative about specific player on ANY TEAM. Let’s try to be better. Because what we do in private will be seen by someone who matters even more in the end.

As far as the, well she needs to go to a private school theory. None of these girls are going pro. So they want to continue to play with the girls they have grown up playing with, and continue to go to school with their friends in order to have a nice balanced life. So please keep you, private schools are so much better theory to yourself. We are fine. If one or more of them want to leave and go to a private school, I for one will be sad to see them go, but I will 100% support them, because that means they think that it’s best for their kid. It’s none of my business, just like it is none of yours

The last thing I want to point out, you all think there is a riff at BF amongst the parents or players. What I would also like to point out is that BF is one of the BEST traveling teams in the state. Our parent sideline is always full of parents to support each other and our players

I think the reason people bag on BF a lot is because they’ve had such an easy path to the state finals for years based on the region they are in. It has NOTHING to do with their parents’ income. If they were in the competitive regions they would never have made it as far as they have in states. They have a lot of runner-up trophies solely based on the region they are in but they were far from the 2nd best team in the state. Facts.

I also went to the BF-Madison game with my daughter to see our friends on both sides. Both fan bases where into the game but respectful, even with the refs who were terrible and screwed both teams at different inopportune times. It was a lot of fun.

That being said, I agree with your thesis on the BF path to the final and have heard BF parents and players say the same thing. I hate the district, regional, state, format where you can lose and move on. I know it has to be at least partially regional but couldn't we just have a "conference" tournament and then one big state tourney like the NCAA?

But, I think you're wrong about income. All you have to do is read this thread. There's a lot of shade thrown at places the further away they are from DC. It at least has something to do with it. But let's be honest, I bet it's that way in NY, PA, and New England too.

Then we can agree to disagree. I have seen the disrespect from Fairfax team (the parents, not the players) when they come to Prince William and how they interact with them. It is a very real thing

Now, I’m not saying the Prince William kids are perfect because they do the same thing to Stafford and spotsy as well

And yes, the playoffs suck. But that’s not BFs fault. They had one bad year, their first year in the state finals. The second year they lost by one. Do they didn’t deserve that second place trophy? Let’s not minimize things to fit your agenda

As for the private thing, if that’s what is best for their kids, then that’s great. But don’t think for a second that every public school kid wants to go private. There is more to life than playing lacrosse

And to be fair, I have seen it from (just using this as an example as I saw it) the disrespect from higher income places like Langley and how their parents treated even another in County School that is not as high income like Centreville. Out did we forget about that last year

That is a very real example of a higher income family believing they are better than a lower income family.

Again, we can agree to disagree, and I respect your opinion. And no, it is not every parent. not every parent from Langley acted that way. But as a general rule, that’s how it goes

How much talk has been done about all the athletes and students at West Po? Anyone worried about them or talking about them? Again, a lower income school. No one even bats an eye

So WestPo, if your girls need anything, I know our team would be proud to help support the girls through a very tragic event

No. We hate BF because the parents cheer the game like it's life or death for them (more so tha for the kids). It's high school sports for pete's sake. Wins, losses, etc. don't matter- unless you peaked in high school as a person.

I believe this is a large contributing factor and extends to how they brag on this forum. Battlefield parents need to take some accountability for creating the dynamic.

Best response so far. There are some fantastic teams full of killers in this area and basically not a word about them on these lacrosse forums. Why is that? Because their parents don’t use DCUM to blab on about it. It’s been going on for years with certain of the BF parents and it’s annoying.

So you don’t think an 8-7 loss to Oakton in finals was a reflection on the team deserving to be there?

It is hard for them to prepare for the state tournament because of their district and region. They have played 3 district games so far outscoring opponents 52-2. I think BF could have done much better in past based on their talent if they have had the opportunity to play FX teams all season long. Just my take. I love good lax and the better teams get the more fun the rivalries get.

Exactly this. It’s got nothing to do with income levels or bragging on some anonymous forum or anything with any specific player. It’s the behavior from parents DURING the game for all in attendance to see. Specifically a) loudly screaming about any call that goes against them and b) loudly screaming at any opposing player who might be little physical. Stop being so loud/embarrassing in negative way and nobody will care.

100%! The BF bashing didn’t start this year or last. This has been going on for years because BF parents chose to use this forum to elevate their teams to champion status w/o having won one. Every year the tune played like a broken record, “this is our year, so watch out world!”

My daughter was fortunate to win a state championship. Not once did the players or parents feel the need to hype themselves up on this board. They played it on the field, winning with grace and quietly celebrating amongst themselves. They never hyped themselves up for the next year.

I’m sure it is only a few BF parents posting this nonsense, but this is the reputation created for BF during the years my kids have played lacrosse. It continues today. BF parents put the bullseye on the players and team, which isn’t fair to them. Word to the wise, I have a daughter who played at the highest level of D1. I am aware of players who were not offered at programs because of their parent’s behavior. Don’t ruin it for your kids. Sit back, relax and cheer everyone on.
