Sent to my buddy who’s a director for ECNL club.

Only rules I’ve heard rumors about is US club is supposedly not going to allow players to be double rostered within its own league.

So you can play ECNL and RL for your same club but can’t play for separate clubs unless you’re a discovery player.

But no more GA or MLSN guest playing.

How exactly does ECNL plan to police this?

Also if this was enforced at the ECNL level they'd be inviting a lawsuit that would effect the entire league.

I've seen clubs try to do this with players but 9x out of 10 it’s just hot air because they know that they'll lose in court and likely lose a top player.

Why don’t you go ask PDA 2011 ECNL club why they had to forfeit their entire spring season.
We’re using too many non discovery players and got busted.
ECNL is bringing the hammer down on teams going forward.
They don’t want “their” players representing Ga or MLSN as guests.

This will last as long as it takes for some lawyer to file a case against ECNL. Clubs and Leagues dont own players. Unless youre MLSN + under contract.

It all comes down to leagues playing chicken with clubs and clubs playing chicken with parents. If they can scare you into following their unofficial rules they've won.

What case are you going to file? Youth players in ECNL aren't paid, so there is not obligation. They are a private entity and free to set their rules. You are right they don't own players, but they set their rules and if you don't like them or cant follow them, you are welcome to play elsewhere. No one is forcing you to play ECNL.

in MLSNext, the contracts are to establish rights/ownership under FIFA rules, so that a) player is tied to club as homegrown, and b) if the player ever becomes good enough, they have documentation for when they sell the player on to a foreign club for cash, or future reimbursement.

Well if ECNL is the main place, monopoly, on girls college recruiting, then antitrust can be an issue. Their rule could be seen as unlawfully exerting their monopoly power.

HAHAHAHAH - less than 4% of age 13+ US youth soccer players play ECNL or ECRL (source: ECNL podcast). Between this monopoly comment and "MLSN doesn't want to be 'associated' with SY", we have some real comedy on here today.

Come on, now. All the ECNL hats love to trumpet just how dominant the league is when it comes to girls D1 college recruiting with the IamYouthSoccer tweets. Own it. This means for kids to get to D1, they have to play ECNL. They can't go anywhere else. That my friend is a monopoly and they can't use that to quash their competition.

Just because a product (ECNL) is the best doesn’t mean they have a monopoly.Everyone knows kids can get recruited from any platform if they are good enough. ECNL just gives kids the best chance statistically.

Could have fooled me. I swear ECNL has built a narrative that GA is about to go bankrupt like the past DA and here's ECNL ready to ban their players from guesting for them. ... Unless that narrative ISN'T correct?

Honestly, banning guest players by either league -- along with forcing clubs to pick between MLSN/GA and ECNL is all anti-competitive BS.

I’ve never seen anyone connect the dots for how BY is creating better professional players. “International alignment” isn’t itself a good reason unless it can be connected to a better result for MLS (not youth national teams). Otherwise it’s just logically the same as mandating all clubs stop using “SC” in their name and start using “FC” because more foreign clubs use that.

Its because MLSN is owned by MLS.

MLS is a professional league and because of this SY has no meaning.
SY has meaning to the paying customers. MLSN won't want to lose money to competitors, which includes other sports.

Did someone say MLSN can start their own BY u-little ecosystem?

This is an organization that still haven't announced the names of its tiers , 1 month away from the start of season.
Bunch of BY folks think white knights of MLS and NWSL are going to invest billions and offer free soccer to all kids as they sell the rights of players to mystery buyers that don't exist to cover costs. And it will all happen within the next year. It's Waiting for Guffman.

Omg this was the clarity I needed.

The turkeys that keep saying everyone with a different POV is a “BY folks” are parents that have kids that are in tiers below ECNL / GA / MLSN!

You all are so out of touch with what really happens and is happening. You just think your kid is amazing, and they’ve been robbed of an opportunity. Too salty to think straight.

Poor you!
What really happens and is happening?

I think the ECNL hat is just a troll pushing buttons.

What's unfortunate is people that are new to all this might believe the nonsense.

That ECNL is the best girls platform and sends the most girls to college and has the most coaches at showcases? That’s true so good thing they believe us.

Not saying GA is bad… they are just second best and why play in the second league if your kid can play in the best league.

I’m sure GA is making money hand over fist it’s their players and families who are getting ripped off.

I hope ECNL doesn’t ban its players from guesting with Ga that would mean the GA would lose all its good players.
