All leagues have current BY rules defined. And it's not a competitor that made a change, its US Soccer that made the change to allow all leagues to choose between BY or SY. It's reasonable to assume that all leagues (not just the three big ones that already have) that are governed by US Soccer (including GA and MLSN) will respond to US Soccer's change in giving leagues reasonable flexibility to decide their registration system. Just because MLSN and GA have said nothing to date on what US Soccer has done (i.e. allowing for flexibility), DOES NOT MEAN GA and MLSN won't change to a SY registration. If you can't understand that logic, then I'm sorry. And its reasonable to assume these organizations will acknowledge the change made by US Soccer (like the three big ones already have) and then announce how they're going to proceed (i.e. staying the same or going with one of the SY options) when the time is right for that league (i.e. sometime before tryouts).

Again, MLSN and GA already have BY rules in place. If BY is the direction they choose to go why do they have to announce anything?

Its like if a car company decided to start equipping their vehicles with square tires. Do all the other car companies have to make statements that they plan to continue using round tires? It doesnt make sense.

If MLSN and GA stayed BY what I can see happening is that one group would be BY which favors 1/1 to 4/1 birthdays and the other group would be SY which favors 8/1 to 12-1.

Club tournaments would be either BY or SY based. If they stayed rigid on the rules BY tournaments would favor BY teams (SY would need to play older kids) and SY tournaments would favir SY teams (BY would need to play older kids)

If this happened with the olders it would only be a matter of time before the split happens at the youngers.

That doesn't track, so far MLSN/GA are the lone holdouts.

I think MLSN/GA should wait 2 more years before implemented SY. It would help the whole eco-system transition by giving parents options to stay with the system they've grown up in. It would make it more of a phase-in than it currently would be and minimize all the game-playing that otherwise would happen among all the big leagues in trying to form the next super teams.

This is why they should delay 2 years -- but then still switch. There's currently a glut in Jan-May players at the highest levels of youth soccer thanks to RAE.

If MLSN stayed BY they'd get all the 1/1 to 4/1 players. If ECNL went SY MLSN could recruit all the top 8/1 to 12/1 players to MLSN and bioband them.

To be fair, MLSN doesn't seem to communicate well about, well, anything. So this is pretty par for the course. I don't think it is indicative of what they are planning. Hell, they still haven't officially announced the name of MLSN2 and that kicks off in some areas of the country next month! They won't say anything, either way, until the last possible moment is my guess. That's what they do with literally everything else. Of course, what the 'last possible moment' is is anyone's guess...

We just joined an MLSN club and it has been a struggle to get anything out of the directors or the league itself, I realize that is kind of par for the course, but I have not been impressed with the competition or their organization so far.

I like it because it is (at the moment) the best soccer platform to help my kid play D1 (which is what he swears he wants to do). I have an older kid playing D3 (transferring to D2 in the fall). Other than that, it is the most poorly run and organized 'league' I have ever seen. It makes state level USYS run leagues look like mensa members. Then you throw in the complete lack of any accountability to their own rules (talking the obvious scamming with bioband players and the scamming with the 'no high school wink wink') and it is a shit-fest.
