And the extra training is just an extension of his practices, honestly. It's called "small group" training but it can be 10+ kids in a session and he charges different amounts to different kids lol. It's honestly insane.

Ever think he was trying to improve the team without the distraction of players who weren’t as capable or serious? Charging for the sessions is necessary otherwise he’d have to include everyone, defeating the purpose, and charging different amounts makes it possible for less affluent kids to join. No one is doing it for free, as we all need to make a living. It’s easy to throw stones based on the $, but I bet what really makes parents upset is that their kid wasn’t invited.
\

He's being paid what? 15,000 or so from GFR to coach each team? He's not working for free. Pay to play private lessons on the side are not allowed by most clubs for a reason. Its hugely divisive.

He's being paid more than that per team. His salary is public and it was over $100k last year, making more than the TD and almost as much as the ED!

Yes, it's hugely divisive - ask anyone who has played for him for more than a season. The last thing girls that age need is more divisiveness.....

Unless you’re on the right side of that line. Welcome to real life.
\

Why would anyone want their daughter involved in a team run in such a manner by someone who sounds like a grasping, greedy nasty bully?

PP said a bunch of the 2011s will follow him to VRSC. Must be a terrible coach.

I believe she said a few of them will follow him.
But that makes no sense either. Is there space on the existing roster at VRSC to add multiple new players? The VRSC top teams usually have full rosters already.
If I was a VRSC parent, I would want more information from the club on what is going on with an abrupt coach change mid season.

I think the 2011's at VRSC are not that great so maybe they want some of the GFR players.

The first teams at VRSC all carry the max number of players per roster. THat's how they fill the teams. Then they fill the second team. and so one. There's not room for extra players.

Not true. 2013 only has 17.

At VRSC? Then they have one open spot on their team. You can only have 18 at the games. And I'm sure there will be unhappy second team parents if a new coach shows up mid year for the first team dragging along a few favorite players instead of moving up a second team player.

This is not how it works. With one exception, VRSC’s teams and not doing nearly as well as the club had hoped for Year 2. They’re not going to improve the situation by replacing departing GA players (who presumably are leaving because they have better options) or filling open roster spots with Aspire players who by definition would be at the bottom of the squad. If GD can bring a couple of his favorites for each of his four GFR teams, that might actually help.

Absolutely. This is true with every VRSC team. If a team can replace their 1-2 worst players with 1-2 of GD’s favorites (who presumably are among GFR’s better players), that might allow them to finish the spring a couple games better, and that might make the difference in qualifying for champions league again, and that might attract 1-2 additional players who can replace their 1-2 worst players. Rinse and repeat. This is how FCV was a top 25 club nationally even though their ulittle program produced very few GA players. The parents of VRSC’s teams’ bottom 7 players will scream bloody murder, just like you are doing here. I’ll celebrate, until my kid finds herself in the bottom 7.

OK, but those "bottom 7" players were offered a spot on VRSC's first team FOR THIS YEAR which includes winter and the spring season. The parents have a contract with VRSC. Are you suggesting New Coach is going to show up and kick kids off the team???

No, but when the bottom players have a coach who lets them know when they’re not doing what they’re supposed to be doing, or some parents get frustrated because he won’t play kick and run, I bet roster spots will open.

NVA has teams with well over 18 players, they just roster a different 18 for each game. Players don’t just need to earn playing time each week, they need to earn a roster spot each week.

Yes, the 09's for sure have more than 18. It is common amongst GA/ECNL teams. As noted above, you're not guaranteed to play each week.

This comment applies to more than just the bottom players. GD is very different than MJ. Players and parents should expect a major shakeup.

Which is what top level teams should be doing. Earn your spot and even more earn a starting spot not to mention. Competition is healthy and is lacking because parents have gotten soft.

Since RL does not have a spring season I’m sure many girls will be going to GA ID sessions.

NVA has teams with well over 18 players, they just roster a different 18 for each game. Players don’t just need to earn playing time each week, they need to earn a roster spot each week.

Yeah but VRSC are lower level teams than NVA. Parents don't expect "competing" to attend at game at the GA/RL levels

Rumor on the VRSC board is NE is coming to GFR.

Why would anyone want their daughter involved in a team run in such a manner by someone who sounds like a grasping, greedy nasty bully?

PP said a bunch of the 2011s will follow him to VRSC. Must be a terrible coach.

Since RL does not have a spring season I’m sure many girls will be going to GA ID sessions.

I’m sure VRSC will see some GFR girls swing through ID sessions, why not? Open market. I bet GD’s girls will be trying out all over the area. He has from what I hear some talented players hiding out in the ECNL RL.

On the boys side this would be a true statement but on the girl side they compete in the same GA league and in fact most VRSC GA teams rank ahead of NVA GA teams.
