Hi,
Does anyone know what the current tuition is? Also, are there any other high schools in the area run by the Jesuits? Many thanks |
Almost $14,000 a year.
http://www.gonzaga.org/admissions/new_site/tuition__fees.htm The other Jesuit high school I know of is Georgetown Prep in Rockville. That is also a boarding school. My DH went to Gonzaga and got an excellent education. We plan on sending our boys there if we are still in the area when they are in high school - they are 3 and 1 now! |
PP here: Assuming they get in of course! |
We played them in high school Lacrosse this year. What a classy group of great kids. |
St. Anselm's in Brookland is not run by the Jesuits; it's run by an order of monks (I forget which), but it's an excellent school with top-notch academics. It starts at 6th grade, and I think tuition runs around $19K. |
When I was at UVA, I thought the Gonzaga boys were really a terrific group of guys. Well mannered, academic, and respectful. |
Excellent. Thank you. |
Here's a plug for St. Anselm boys. I dated one in college and got to know his friends. They are kind, generous, and brilliant. |
Isn't St. Anselm for particularly gifted boys? I think Gonzaga is for bright, but not nec. highly gifted. |
Good to know about St Anslem's but that is probably a little far for us. |
Pat Conroy wrote about the school very fondly in his memoir, My Losing Season. Might be worth a read!
I've heard only great things about the school. |
I think this is about The Citadel, not Gonzaga. Pat Conroy is one of my favorite authors! |
My son did really well on St. Anselm's test and was admitted, although we decided to go elsewhere (although we liked the school a lot). And although I think he's a very bright and terrific boy, I never thought he was "gifted." (I may be in the minority in this town though!! Horrors!) |
I did too, and was so imrpessed. If/when we have a boy, I've vowed to try to send him there. |
No, it's Gonzaga too. You can google it. In fact, when I googled it to get the exact title, I read a funny story. In his memoir, Conroy writes about his father beating him up at the school. But no one at the school (including faculty and alum) remembers the episode! I love Conroy's books too. |
