Will Whittle be around next year?

Basically more of the same string along but school is open. I sincerely wish all the best to the families and staff in this difficult situation.

Undoubtedly said parent must be a ringleader of the Parent NoCapital NoStrategy Committee and doesn't want their ineptitude conveyed to the outside world.

I'd make a reasonable wager that the non-update contained more wishful and hopeful thinking that some funds may or may not materialize in 3-4-5 weeks

March 25th, after the school is sold in the foreclosure auction on the 24th.

The building has already been sold!

What do you mean?

Maybe they can finish the year on virtual or maybe the new buyer will have the decency to finish the year out.

Good Lord. A new buyer does not have any moral obligation to educate 100 kids. I mean, really.

It is going to take any new buyer some time to figure out their strategy for the building. It isn't exactly as if people are clamoring for office space in the current environment and the building was mostly empty even when Whittle signed its lease. All of which suggests there's a chance they won't start moving for a few months which maybe allows for the school to limp across the finish line of this academic year.

Although, more so than the building, the more pressing issue seems to be the inability to come up with one dollar to pay faculty and staff....

It sounds like the type of arrangement you folks want is some sort of mandated access to education, guaranteed for all…some sort of, if you will, public school.

Based on the lack of triumphant braying from the Whittle crowd, seems like it wasn't CW's Gibbersish Coin bid that prevailed......

And who is going to teach them? You expect the current volunteer teachers to just keep showing up for four or five more months?

This is the kind of pipe dream that has made the inevitable end so messy.

No, it’s two parents who are applying out but not the ring leader. I find it concerning that DCUM is one of the main concerns and the pay for the teachers, the school auctioning and other key factors were not discussed when some parents were very mad about DCUM and went on a little rant. I understand that it is wrong to post “private” messages from leaders in the school and or the parent chat( I have not done so, just got on here two days ago) however dont be mad at SOME truths are posted on here; BE MAD THAT YOU KEEP ON ASKING QUESTIONS TO SEND BACK TO THE SCHOOL THROUGH THE PARENT COMMITTEE AND IN RETURN WE GET VAGUE ANSWERS. If you have time and are worried about what’s going on in DCUM maybe you should be looking for ways to pay the millions of dollars of loans. I simply am staying TILL THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR OR IF IT SHUTS DOWN DURING BREAK because 1. My child’s neighborhood school is at the max capacity for their grade 2. Most people who have recently left need to complete summer school or redo the grade. I HAVE applied for serval other schools for my child.

Thanks for sharing that. It is both amusing and sad that those parents have reserved their outrage for DCUM but not for CW and his band of cronies who created this huge, gigantic, steaming mess...

CW's track record on real estate claims: Remember this one from April last year when he claimed the Chicago Gems building was sold and the Varkey merger was a done deal: "This weekend, after months of negotiation and diligence, we accepted and signed an offer with a significant real estate fund for $130mm"

Did someone buy the building ahead of the auction? Was that CW's latest hope - to be in cahoots with someone who would buy it at auction price so the school could avoid being kicked out?
