did you cut your hair?

I have long hair (down my back) and pretty much always have. With an infant, though, is driving me freaking crazy! It's always getting pulled, even if braided or in a bun. I'm debating a short cut. Not a horrid "mom" cut, but something more modern, easier to manage and that won't get wound around sticky little hands all day Ideally, it'll also no longer smell like spitup and have to be washed every day!

Did you cut your hair? Did you regret it and wish you could still braid or pull it back in a bun or tail? Or did you love it and never lkoi back?

Cut it. It will be cooler in the summer and make your life easier. And the hair-grabbing stage lasts a while. You may still have some hair grabbing but it won't be as easy for them and it'll be easier to manage. Plus, if you haven't experienced it yet they often will grab and twist and wrap. We realized it was a comfort thing, but it HURT.

I just chopped all my hair off into a cute pixie cut. I love it and it's super easy to deal with. Plus no more hair pulling!

When both my girls were infants I had a pixie cut - but I am constantly changing my hair and am fond of the pixie look on myself so it wasn't a crazy change for me. But the super short hair was a breeze to style (took a minute tops) and couldn't be grabbed/pulled as easily.

If you cut your hair short, how do you put it into the traditional "Screw it, I give up" ponytail?

I just had my hair cut from shoulder-length into a chin length bob. I'm glad I did. It dries a lot faster and is easier to style. The one thing I wasn't prepared for was how pregnancy totally changed the texture of my hair. It used to be stick straight and got a bit wavy while I was pregnant, but as soon as I cut a lot of the length off, it's downright curly! So weird.

I like the pixie cut, but it doesn't work on a lot of people. I think you need to be very thin to pull it off.

I got a layered bob that I can pull back into a little ponytail, or clip into a twist. As long as the back is not shorter than the front you can put it up.

Yes, I did cut it short when I had kids. Once the baby was 5, I grew it long again but never as long as it was pre-kids.

No I didn't, for the reason stated above!

please tell me how come your kids won't pull on your short hair!!!!????

my kid is 11mo and the hair pulling is driving us insane! even DH's short hair won't save him from the painful episodes.

we're at a loss here.

This is a common goal, but in about 95% of the cases I know, these well-meaning women do end up with mom hair.

I didn't cut my hair. My DS outgrew hair pulling in 2-3 months and that was that. I'm glad I kept my hair longish (its not really long, but I don't like that anymore than I like really short hair, except on the rare few that can pull it off...i'm thinking goodwin). anyway, if you want to change your hair for yourself, DO it. If you're changing it because your DC's are pulling on it, then don't!!! Only do these things for yourself, not your children. You have years and years to lose your identity in your children. Hold on to what you can.

It's just hair. A cut is not forever. Do what makes you comfortable now.

I regularly grow my hair for a few years then do a short chin length cut- I enjoy the drastic change but whatever stylist I get always ask me if I am sure because there are people that come in with long, request short, and leave in tears
