Now take the same logic and apply it to the girls side. 😉

The difference is with girls theres no Academy teams (yet).

Which means all GA has to do highlight the top performing clubs (already happening) and bring over top ECNL clubs (already happening)

Top ECNL clubs? Not one so far. Get back to me when Hawks or SLSG or Surf or Blues or Solar move to GA.

The best club from ECNL to move to GA was the Midwest Untied #80 girls club in the country. Of their teams that made ECNL playoffs (not many) I am not sure they won a single game.

Not one GA club is ranked in the top 10 of clubs and only one (City) is ranked in the top 20.

I am not convinced you could put an all star team of GA together and win any age group of ECNL.

I think the more aggressive pro-GA folks said next year would be the year for bigger clubs to switch (maybe contracts are involved, who knows?).

As far as rankings, which ones and when did we get an official system endorsed by all in an ecosystem where the top leagues really don't play each other? Seems like they are done by websites or twitter users with a business interest where their readers are also potential customers instead of objective observers.

Regardless, ECNL for girls historically and currently clearly is the stronger league. Still, the nonstop punching down on GA here is telling and continues to be quite unnecessary.

I end by saying the whole thing and how it all works could change in a blink of an eye. Big time changes are brewing for all of youth sports.

I think the best thing you can say about GA this season is that they did not lose anyone of note despite the constant rumors that City or TopHat or CUP were going to make the jump to ECNL

The contant rumors started by ECNL parents based on nothing.

MLSN + GA on the other hand have made an announcement that they're working together. Over time greedy clubs will make the switch because MLSN is a better draw than boys ECNL and GA is a clone of girls ECNL.

Theres some nervous hats going on.

How about we see just a single ECNL club in the top 20 make the jump over to GA before anyone gets nervous. Shoot make it top 50?

Most top girls ECNL are just that. Girls centric. I am just not sure MLSN is a big enough draw for the top clubs to leave ECNL for an inferior girls league just to get their mediocre boys teams on the MLSN2 platform.

I mean what is the actual value proposition from GA other than a loose affiliation with MLSN? It is not better competition, coaches are similar in my experience, maybe it is about location and convenience for some or style of play for others. I just dont see it right now. If they do get an affiliation with NWSL and start legitimate academies that would be a game changer in my mind but dont see that happening any time soon.

There is word that NCFC is contemplating a switch. Their boys are languishing by losing top teams and players in Raleigh to two pretty weak MLSN clubs.

#57………

On the boys side. Top 20 on girls. Not a mind reader, but I think PP was making that point with “languishing on the boys side.”

NCFC is NOT a Top 20 program on the girls side. Not even close.

What annoys me is statisticly it was written by an ECNL parent who's kids club will never make playoffs.

Esp considering the league has been manipulation the regions recently to force and protect different teams for Nationals. Lots of births reallocations cause by teams like PDA getting favoritism. (Not to mention teams like Slammers allowed multiple bites at the cherry that most clubs don’t and the pooling of all their ECNL roster including Koge that is explicitly agains the rules).

GA is a newer league. ECNL pounced after the collapse of DA. GA actually is improving (and it's easy because it's hard for 1 league to maintain such a dominance) -- it's why ECNL is playing the numbers game with the scouts/schools at showcases.

Not sure where you were then, but ECNL was a CAUSE of DA’s collapse.

As someone with a u17 this is completely wrong.

DA "failed" because US Soccer no longer wanted to provide free soccer at clubs so there would be better USMNTs and USWNTs.

MLS took over boys DA and morphed it into a form of minor league academy system.

Girls DA started over as GA which was/is a near copy of girls ECNL.

ECNL had nothing to do with DA blowing up.

It failed because ECNL recruited a good chunk of the top teams out of DA. Do you even know why Top Hat is GA on the girls not ECNL?

GA is not “DA starting over.” GA is a result of clubs that got pissed at ECNL because of how they screwed everyone and they went off and started their own thing.

MLS had been ind discussions and studies of setting up their own academies for about 18m prior to the collapse, and when DA collapsed, MLSN launched because ECNL was trying to cherry pick the best.

You’ve got no clue what happened. Stop drinking the propaganda koolaide. As good as ECNL is at getting girls to D1, as a league, they are “the baddies.”

It appears that GA P4 recruits are actually going down. Not sure if that is because some bigger name clubs have left, taking their P4s with them or if the general skill level is going down. or both.

Here we go with the numbers/spin game again. It "appears". I guess it does matter how you count a recruit and which league deserves the most credit for their development, especially when it's often multiple. Somewhere, poor USYS is shaking its head.

I will walk you through this very slowly so you can see. Go to the Soccer Rankings App. Go to the bottom and select Clubs. Then go to the top and pick girls from the drop down menu and USA. Then search for NCFC. It is ranked #57. Now, dont you feel a little silly calling other people stupid?

I truly hope you are not confusing NEFC with NCFC………….that would look really bad for you😂

32 teams have 4+ P4 commits in the class of 2026. 6 of those are GA. 26 are ECNL. And, just to remove doubt, Nationals are not one of the 32 teams so they are not skewing anything. So no leading questions just facts. ECNL simply dominates GA for high level soccer recruits.

Looking forward to rebuttal or moving of goalposts or whatever else you got……… counselor……….

What most people miss is that 80% of P4 recruits come from the top 50 clubs (~10GA and 40ECNL) and the other ~300 “all other” GA and ECNL fight over the remaining 20%. The vast majority of GA and ECNL teams will not have a single P4 recruits this year.

Hey one trick poney your cherry picked stats mean nothing. It would be fun to track how many of those hit the transfer portal or how many get replaced by transfer portal players.

Speaking of cherry picked manipulated data...

More girls ECNL players hit the transfer portal in their first year than any other girls league?
