Board of Veterans Appeals (Attorney Advisor)

There is clearly a disgruntled former Board attorney trolling this chatroom, as he has been doing for the past 5 years or so. I know him. He got fired due to unprofessional conduct, couldn't handle the work, was routinely called out for his lack of an ability to understand the law, write appropriately, and basic stupidity. Everyone just ignore him. He has not been hired by any reputable firm or agency since. This is what happens when a bad hire is let go, they become obsessed with their own bad behavior. Obviously, he was let go for appropriate reasons as he cannot control himself here.

To be fair, going from BVA to a reputable firm or agency is difficult.

+1

Management needs to crack the whip more and keep disobedient and/or unproductive employees in line or shove them out the door asap.

The leaked memo re: VA cuts

I think BVA is relatively safe based on the 2019 contingency plan.

Possibly. But not safe from RTO. Have heard that our exemption request was denied and all SSCs RTO on March 17. No word yet on AAs or VLJs.

Past emails re: potential shutdowns indicate that BVA's OAO and OAS employees are designated as essential during a lapse in appropriations. But that seems like a lot of people that would be exempt from RIFs.

Most federal employees aren’t essential. While Trump’s EO draws a distinction between essential and non-essential positions, they can’t fire all non-essential employees without crippling the federal government.

No it’s not, plenty of BVA alumni have

Perhaps, if you count SSA, and VA disability benefits firms such as Bergmann and Moore and Chisholm. They are indeed reputable in the field of disability claims.

If that’s the case, where are they supposed to RTO at?

Can any SSC confirm if there is a RTO for March 17?

Can you provide any source for your “rumor”?

While a rumor is just that, a rumor, that seems like something so big that it would be difficult to go unconfirmed.

My SSC told me in a meeting yesterday. Check with yours.

All of this is incredibly unpopular with Veterans. Read the comments on socials such as instagram & Reddit. VA actually turned comments off on YouTube, which I would think has the most active veterans on it. All the republicans I know are either quiet about Musk and Trump or they feel betrayed. I don’t believe these 51% polls. Veterans are starting to talk about how they’re coming for compensation next. I personally think M&T have overplayed their hands across the board — Ukraine, the dismantling of the federal government, tariffs, our relationships with allies, and if you’d watch MSM you wouldn’t necessarily think so. MSM is absolutely carrying the water for Trump. It’s all sickening for sure, but I don’t think it’s sustainable.

Are AAs designated as essential? Where does OAO and OAS fall in terms of the BVA? Are they separate from AAs? Probie here and still trying to figure out the ropes. Thank you.
