Do you have a link to the interview?

There were 64 VIPs on board to their family and friends.

+1. AND no one has said there were not VIPs on board prior to the stop at Langley.

Yep! And I do not believe someone with just 500 hours of training would be flying close to CIA HQ for training purposes.

500 hours is considered well qualified. average for the position. this per Fox News.
There was an instructor on board with 1000 hours, which is very well qualified. Probably the voice we heard. Seemed like an older white guy.

It’s owned by the embassy but not the actual embassy.

Watching the Nightly News. Really strikes me how excellent the emergency response was. Good coordination between all jurisdictions. Fire boats at site within 10 minutes. Sadly, it didnt matter.

Maybe we will learn it wasn't so smooth, but this was still impressive IMO.

But what was really impressive was his explanation of what needs to change in the industry. Buckle up folks it’s gonna be a good 9 to 12 months until we get a final report.

Who needs a report? Trump’s massive brain has already identified the problem.

Several near misses with helicopters were previously reported at Reagan National Airport

From CNN's Casey Tolan, Majlie de Puy Kamp, Curt Devine and Haley Britzky
In the three years before the deadly collision between an Army helicopter and an American Airlines flight near Reagan National Airport, at least two other pilots reported near-misses with helicopters while landing at the airport, a CNN review of federal incident reports found.

On two occasions, passenger planes had to take evasive action to avoid colliding with a helicopter when trying to land at the airport, according to reports filed by pilots. In a third incident, two military helicopters got too close together, an air traffic controller reported.

Those previous scares are sure to gain more attention after the disaster over the Potomac River on Wednesday night, which is presumed to have killed 64 people aboard the plane and three Army servicemembers on a helicopter training flight.

I blame Trump!
It did happen on his watch. He is incredibly sensitive to that, which is why he bee lined immediately to faulting the previous admin.

Trump is belligerent even with the easiest questions:

“Trump said he would meet with some of the families affected by the crash. Asked by reporters whether he would visit the collision site, Trump responded: “What’s the site? The water? You want me to go swimming? I don’t have a plan to do that, but I will be meeting with some people that were very badly hurt — with their family member, obviously.””

On Reddit, the helicopter was noted as being above or at an address in McLean just outside Langley HQ.

Saud royalty, from what I’ve heard locally

Yes. The full address of the house is on Reddit. I did not see a screen grab from flight trackers that looks legit so I am not sure…

The concensus of this address, which does indeed belong to a Saudi affiliate, is that all helicopters turn off their transponders when in/near CIA (for privacy and security reasons). They then turn them back on when they've left the property, which could be variable given their flight path and if they're going by mileage or time or their own judgement. So what is most likely is that their transponder started recording again over this residence. Not that they took off from it.

Probably true, but what are the chances it would be the Saudi Embassy. This is how conspiracy stories thrive. What the F are the chances......

Also, why is the Saudi Embassy so close to the CIA?

Every flight probably crosses some embassy's property. This is DC.

Another expert pilot stating the pilots likely did not see each other. Or that the Helo pilots originally had the plane in it's sights but later lost it. This guy is my favorite Aviation youtuber.

Thanks for sharing. This was a really good explanation of the tragedy.

I thought the evidence is that the Helo location STARTED at this embassy affiliated location. No?

The cause of Wednesday’s midair collision between an Army helicopter and a passenger jet is under investigation. But the tragedy, which claimed the lives of 67 people, was only the latest in a series of accidents involving Army helicopters the past couple of years.

The three soldiers from Fort Belvoir, Va., who were killed were conducting an annual training exercise near Ronald Reagan National Airport when the crash occurred. All 60 passengers and the four crew members aboard the American Airlines flight also died. The crashes and mishaps of Army helicopters, which can include hard landings or other incidents that yield damage or injuries, have been so frequent in the past two years that the number of fatalities from these incidents — at least 18 — has surpassed those killed in recent combat operations abroad.

Can’t believe someone was dumb enough to actually ask him to visit the collision site. He should’ve said oh You mean in the middle of the sky?

I doubt we will know what happened last night. Only that DEI is too blame.

Was the ATC a woman? I’m sure she already feels awful and is near suicidal and I’m also sure that the Triumpers will say awful things.

I would not think parents of pilots or FAs necessarily know what flight they are on.

Pilots and flight attendants fly the same routes over and over, no?

I think it’s actually compiicated especially in these regional airlines. There was a great article a few months back in WaPo o think about flight attendants and basically how crappy their schedules are until they hit a certain level of seniority.

Only you (and our president) would be stupid enough to not understand that question. Anyone with any common sense understands that to mean next to crash site on the ground.

It was a male.
