Never when there is a direct BSC conflict, but they don't play more than 5-6 tournaments a year, so there are tons of other opportunities and he likes to get to play in other tournaments. I'm paying them, not the other way around, so as far as I am concerned my son can do whatever he wants.

How do you get your card to play? We are new to BSC this year and our coach approved guesting but the paperwork said different. I was not going to worry about it until all of this came up. We won’t commit to anything that conflicts with the club.

If your team has a manager, ask them. They generally don't care at all and will give to you. If not,.ask the coach but be sure they aren't too close to management. And some tournaments you can card separately. My son has cards under several teams that are just for tournament play. And some will just accept a passport or birth certificate.

Now, they did “okay?”

You are a sad human.

They routinely get destroyed in the MLS Next Mid-Atlantic division

They did okay in the 2nd tier of the tournament without several strong teams in attendance

Both are true

The manager cannot give out the card. The club holds the card and doesn't have to give it to you.

Ranked 9/18 teams in Mid-Atlantic per MLS website. Stop digging a deeper hole and go fixate on another group of 13 year olds.

Let’s please get back to the purpose of this thread: Bethesda discussion.

Yes, I want to hear from anyone who wants to defend the Colton's policy on guest playing? It seems like a lose/lose for the club and the players. Still waiting to hear one legitimately good reason. I know most of the coaches don't care.

Burnout. overuse injuries. The player card is insurance card, so if you're using it and something happens, BSC would be involved.

I think burnout is a real issue, especially at the younger ages but I feel that each family needs to make that decision for themselves. Can you elaborate on the insurance concern?

That’s why 2016 is the only team with no parents-managers. They were afraid they would give out the cards

This is total BS. Most clubs allow kids to guest play with other teams and give out their player cards. Problem is not insurance. Problem is JC insecurities

Copa talento didn’t required player cards, just birth certificates. Still, 2016s were not allowed to play. This has nothing to do with insurance.

As someone new to the BSC, the tournament schedule for our 1st team is much more robust than my last club and I honestly don’t think we will actually guest unless we have some empty weekends in May somehow. We received an offer from Achilles and they only offered 2-3 tournaments similar to our old club while we have 5 expected this upcoming year with BSC.

I don’t like the policy and if feels hypocritical since I know a few players who have guested with BSC in major tournaments but I just don’t care enough to worry about it until we come across an opportunity that we can’t take advantage of.

If your kid is good enough, it will not matter.

If your kid is not good enough, you are worrying about the wrong things.

I don’t disagree with you but I also don’t think that should negate the bad actions coming from the BSC leadership. These kinds of decisions hurt everyone at the club by pushing away good players and families.

This will sound like a joke but it's not.

I'm looking for 2016 kids to play a local tournament second week of August

Anyone interested please reach out to tournament.team@proton.me (I'm serious about it)
