Anyone going back to double masks or KN95s bc of Delta?

How do we really know when the ventilation is adequate? I feel like if unvaccinated individuals are still required to wear them outside there is a risk, which means there's still a risk to those who are vaccinated, just less. It's so hard to figure out what is right to do.

Thank you for paying attention. Also many indoor spaces do require masks. It’s still up to individual businesses. That’s important to keep in mind. We require them in our space and have boxes of masks for those that would like to enjoy our business and have left their’s at home. Win win. It’s up to thm whether to stay or go, our requirements remain the same.

That seems to be what people are saying. They’re vaccinated but they have no problem wearing a mask if they go somewhere that requires it. That’s what our family does. If there is a sign that says “mask up”, we do so.

Gyms in VA have been open for a full year. I returned when they opened, working out 3x a week unmasked, for a total of 5-7 hours a week. Let's say 350 unmasked gym hours.

Lately, in classes with 30-40 people, also unmasked, exercising indoors. Obviously more people in the gym overall. I've hugged people, high fived them, talked to them face to face indoors, touched all kinds of equipment without wiping it down with windex (that's really what's in those spray bottles).

Still have never gotten covid at all, either with or without symptoms. Now that I'm fully vaccinated, I look at masking indoors as ridiculous. Obviously if a business still required it I'll respect their rules, but indoor masking is so absurd to me now. And I'm a very left leaning WOC.

How do you know you’ve never been infected with Covid since the virus has been present in your community? Do you test regularly?

For antibodies, yes (frequent blood donor). Always negative (until vaccinated, obviously)

I'm really not that concerned in my state. Cases have continued to go down. Currently, there are under 200 statewide. There have been 13 identified Delta variants total. And that number has been fairly unchanged (last week it was 11).

Dh and I are fully vaccinated. We wear a mask when required (rarely these days)..

We don't do many activities indoors with DS but he's masked 90% of the time. We did take him to the movies a couple of weeks ago without a mask. He doesn't wear a mask outdoors.

We will reevaluate as needed, but for now the stats show no reason to panic.

It’s unlikely you will be infected outside but if you need to be absolutely sure, you should continue to mask and social distance.

I am continuing to wear KN95 masks indoors because I have kids too young to be vaccinated and I don't want to get an asymptomatic case and pass it on to them. Yes the risk to them is low. But I also think it's a very minor inconvenience to wear a mask indoors, in air-conditioned stores, so I don't see the downside to being extra-cautious about it. I have not been wearing masks outdoors and don't plan to start wearing them again unless case rates around here really skyrocket.

Same. My kids still wear them outside though.

Yes, I never stopped double masking. I am Indian and have known about the delta variant from the time it started ravaging the masses back home.

No, it’s not the “beginning.” This started a year and a half ago. Omg the delta strain is just what the covid crazies were hoping for.

Huh? If they were hoping for it, they would not wear masks. Only idiots hope for it or invite it by not wearing masks. Aholes. If you all would die of COVID without causing the mutations or infecting others, you think we would care for you morons? Unfortunately, you will kill others and tank the US economy.

I was very, very cautious before being fully vaccinated.

Now I am living my life normally except when interacting with people who are immunocompromised or who are especially nervous or cautious. I have KN95s for going to help an auntie who is in chemo, just in case, and when inside my friend's home with her new baby, because that is what she has requested. I wear a very light cloth mask in stores and on airplanes, or other indoor spaces where they are required. I am not going to double mask or wear a KN95 to the grocery store. I know there is some very very very VERY small risk, and I'm okay with that.

I love my N95, have no problems with keeping it on. Why not.

Now with all this talk about Delta and how quickly it's spreading (30% of US cases are now Delta as opposed to 10% a week ago) + how you only need a few seconds of exposure + how if it breaks thru the vaccine people still get really sick (so the vax doesn't guarantee asymptomatic or mild) + combined with the fact that life is resuming, I'm expected to be in office buildings and elevators etc. while most people are stopping masking (or maybe only 40-50% are masking in any situation), is it time to go back to double masks or KN95?

Or is the vax (mRNA) still holding up enough that this isn't necessary? I mean I figured I'd be back to double masking in the fall - not in the heat of the Virginia summer.

Your premise is faulty. Yes, Delta is here and very contagious, but the vaccines work. At least the Pfizer and Moderna do.

So no, my family is not masking nor worried.

I still mask in public places--basically, stores, hairdresser, etc. I think the risk is minuscule, but I got used to wearing a mask all day at work, and it was so amazing to not get a cold or anything for so long that it seems like an easy precaution.

The "I'll never wear masks again" people disgust me. You get what you deserved and your attitude has made this entire health situation unnecessarily politicized. You're the same people criticizing Fauci with your armchair epidemiology degrees.

To answer OP: I would def wear a 95 mask on planes. I do not wear masks when outside and in smaller groups of people that I know are vaccinated. We still wear them in stores and so forth, and that is not an issue for us to decide since most are still requiring them.

As for larger events with lots of people in close proximity, we have not decided how to handle that yet. We have a concert in August and there are certainly some outdoor concert/entertainment things we'd like to do this summer where there will be a lot of people. TBD.

My DD's sport is finally starting to relax the mask requirements (they played all last summer and up to current IN MASKS without any bitc---- and complaining that you hear from whiny a$$ adults). But some venues still require it.
