Anyone going back to double masks or KN95s bc of Delta?

Anonymous
Vaccinated fully since early April. I had a few months of relaxing - coming and going as I pleased. I've always masked but had relaxed - one cloth mask. Now with all this talk about Delta and how quickly it's spreading (30% of US cases are now Delta as opposed to 10% a week ago) + how you only need a few seconds of exposure + how if it breaks thru the vaccine people still get really sick (so the vax doesn't guarantee asymptomatic or mild) + combined with the fact that life is resuming, I'm expected to be in office buildings and elevators etc. while most people are stopping masking (or maybe only 40-50% are masking in any situation), is it time to go back to double masks or KN95?

Or is the vax (mRNA) still holding up enough that this isn't necessary? I mean I figured I'd be back to double masking in the fall - not in the heat of the Virginia summer.

No I’m unmasked until The cdc or local govt tells me otherwise.

Of course not.

“So far, none of the most common variants show much ability to evade the effects of full vaccination.”

Nope - I’m vaccinated. I will be wearing my N95 on the plane and nowhere else.

Except CDC and local gov't has been one step behind on everything. They only know/say something is a problem when case rates tick up to a certain threshold. Are you not concerned that you may be caught in between -- case rates ticking up but you didn't mask bc CDC/state didn't say so and then got exposed right before the new masking requirements came out?

Definitely KN95. We must be protected and protect people around us! I hope people will stop being so selfish and understand the risks. I shake my head at unmasked people thinking the pandemic is over. No, it is not! It is only the beginning…

No I’m not concerned. I don’t sit on DCUM reading doom and gloom anecdotes. None of it worries me anymore. Mentally covid is over.

Who cares about the heat? It is better to be safe and alive. You are going to protect yourself and the community.

There is no evidence that delta evades vaccination.

No, it’s not the “beginning.” This started a year and a half ago. Omg the delta strain is just what the covid crazies were hoping for.

There are no risks if you’re vaccinated

To answer your question, op- I’ll never wear a mask again

Snort. No. I have one box of disposable surgicals for planes, Dr. office, etc. but otherwise I am DONE.

Agreed. And honestly I never indoor dined etc. but would still go inside restaurants to pick up takeout -- nope -- restaurants are packed with unmasked people so for me it's back to curbside, back to lots of packaged goods grocery shopping curbside, and then going once every 1-2 wks for produce etc. usually on a weekday mid morning/off time.
