It's different because the Church has repented for the sin of child molestation. They know it's wrong and have paid out large sums of money in legal settlements.

Same-sex couples wanting to marry in the Church are not repentant. They celebrate their homosexuality and expect other Catholics to do the same.

If you want the church’s moral authority to be on the same footing as Fox News, that compassion makes a ton of sense. Of course, to a lot of people, both organizations are equally morally bankrupt
