Actually, this is a good point minus the snark. And unfortunately hospital lists are closed to anyone except recent patients. |
Come on. They have been bringing vaccine directly to plenty of facilities. |
DCHealth has been claiming that the reason your doctor in his/her city office cannot get the vaccine is because they do not have adequate storage capacity. I believe that DCHealth's own actions have proven that is just an excuse to keep private doctors from administering the vaccine. |
You miss the point. Yes - all of the extra equity hoops take more time. Sorry - they do. I want folks in 7 and 8 to get vaccinated (even if, as noted above poster - they aren’t so great at mask wearing). The positive cases are coming from those Wards - and Bowser has determined the whole city needs to be locked down until and if - those numbers go down. Open up one big site - like The Arena. |
Correct. Private doctors aren’t getting the vaccine anywhere. It’s being administered by pharmacies and large health networks. They can thaw vaccine and bring it into a long term care facility and vaccinate 100 people in three hours. That’s not something your doctor’s office can do. CVS ran the vax clinics at my mom’s facility. |
DC residents don't go to DC churches. Just ask the Mayor. |
i would like to see cases by ward over time. For example , in Feb 21', where are the most cases and what is behind the spread? If you want to do by zip code, targetbwhere the most cases are happening...today. |
The Moderna vaccines, which are the ones being used in Giant/Safeway/etc. pharmacies, can be stored in normal freezers for short periods of time. The Pfizer ones have to stay in ultra-cold facilities the whole time. |
They need to open sites in Ward 3. What a terrible message they've sent to some residents. |
There is a site in Ward 3! And Ward 3 seniors are doing a GREAT job of getting vaccinated. The terrible message is that affluent and white people, as usual, will get the majority of any resource that is scarce. |
Where is the site? |
safeway |
The only feedback I've heard on this "site " is limited appointment/appoibtments being canceled/lack of vaccine. #notequitable |
Doesn’t seem to be a messaging issue since more than half of Ward 3 seniors have received their first dose. |
Yes, that happens everywhere, because there aren't enough vaccine doses anywhere to go around. My parents had an appointment canceled in Ward 4 because the system scheduled it for them at a site that was closed on the day it was scheduled. If your concern is that everyone has an equitable chance of finding the system lousy and frustrating, don't worry! |
