+1. Just about every SEC school offers a traditional college experience with as much or as little involvement in politics and activism as you desire. If that's your thing, it's certainly there. But if not, you can easily avoid it. It won't be rubbed in your face like an active brother's brown-streaked tightly whities during pledgeship and if, God forbid, your worldview doesn't toe the woke SJW line, you can still freely voice your opinions without fear of ostracization.

I'm partial to Alabama since it's my kid's future alma mater. Roll Tide! But you can certainly get a similar college experience at Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas, etc. Bonus: their Covid rules aren't totally insane. College kids in the SEC are actually allowed to be... college kids.

This SHOULD be the point of college - to be exposed to different cultures & ideas. Many colleges professors are left leaning (90+% donate to left leaning groups).

In many ways, colleges are more narrowly focus due to this lack of professor political diversity.

By definition, professors are educated. It is pretty hard to consider a diversity of though when one side believes in science and education and the other in Jewish space lasers. Sorry, it just doesn't work.

My life long republican father probably regrets every day of his life that he sent me to a liberal arts college where I majored in government and god forbid came out with a different perspective than he had. And no I wasn't indoctrinated, but my eyes were opened to other considerations, perspectives and experiences and i became... perish the thought... open minded! THAT is the point of college. Learning other perspectives, doing your research, relying on facts not radio talk show hosts.

Even at that LAC, back when I was there, there was no political cultural environment to speak of, I just happened to major in it.

Interesting, so being conservative means being closed minded? So I assume being a liberal means being open minded in your eyes? Your post actually reads as someone who is extremely closed minded for what it's worth which I imagine for someone of your ilk is not much.

Conservative = QAnon, Evangelicals, Proud Boys, OathKeepers, 3%

"Liberals" = everyone else.

You think it’s “the academics” who have forgotten that? I suppose even if that is true, at least they knew what it means at one time.

Funniest post in the thread.

Who lacks critical thinking skills? Yesterday the Trump administration released the "1776 Report," allegedly history but without any footnotes or citations. So, a piece of propaganda reviled by all reputable historians, the ones who actually have critical thinking skills (and work at the schools OP wants to avoid).

Not seeing how that is relevant to op’s question. Not everyone trying to avoid overly political campuses is a trumper. There are plenty of centrists and even mildly conservative sorts who don’t feel comfortable in the current academic climate at most schools.

And leftists too. I’m a leftist Bernie supporter. I’m extremely uncomfortable with this new culture that has emerged that stifles discussion.

I would like the admins at these “non-political” schools to do something about the toxic Greek & football culture that can be harmful to both female and make students. The extreme drinking and hazing culture of many colleges (liberal ones too) is actually more of a threat to a student’s well-being.
