Wife is just unimaginative with food and prefers to eat crap...at my wits’ end

Otherwise, you have to be part of the solution and work with them. If it it a too tired to cook, the figure out how to take some of the cooking off her plate. Or get a house cleaner to come and take that off her plate.

He bought a rotisserie chicken. She took the out for McNuggets instead.

I'm a SAHM. I have days that are hard and where I don't cook dinner. But I don't see how putting the kids in the car and going through McDonald's driv-thru makes her day easier. It sounds like that is what SHE want to eat for herself, but throw in stuff for the kids too since she doesn't want to be bothered with cooking something she isn't going to eat too.

If the day is that hard, make some peanut butter sandwiches

Seriously. Whether this is a troll post or not, women who actually live like this are horrible mothers.

I think many Americans are like this. Eat a lot of fast food or just make the usual whitebread fare of mac and cheese.

I think the veteran recently back from a long deployment aspect of this is being really underweighted. The veterans I know have good reason to need a recuperation period.

Maybe she should have thought about that before having two kids??

Maybe OP should have.

Maybe, but you are a horrible person, so I’m sure your kids are really screwed.

It’s easier for her because of her habits that she has formed. Habits are hard to break, so there is no simple solution here.

I make sure my kids eat a fruit or vegetable with every meal. It's freaking exhausting. They're constantly rejecting what they used to eat and generally making my life hard. I can't shit on a vet who is re-integrating into family life with small kids.

They'll eat when they're hungry. Maybe the OP's wife has some trauma-related memories from growing up on a farm and that's why she doesn't eat vegetables.

They're hungry and fussy but they don't want to eat the healthy things I am demanding they eat, so it's a drama.

Or get some cooking lessons. I’m sure you could find someone that could coach her online.

This is a good suggestion. Order meals you all agree on.

I guess I am surprised that you have gotten this far into your marriage and am just facing this now. Seems like a fundamental difference that would have surfaced earlier.

Good for mom for getting what she wants to eat after multiple deployments and all that hard work. OP, were you ever active duty? You are benefitting from her service so stop complaining.

P.S. this is fake.
