| Ali Krieger was pretty good for 5'6 |
LOL |
No one is saying a 5’1” player will not be selected/make it but you have to be so much better vs 5’6” player. 5’1” players are the except not the rule. If you look at the major college rosters roughly a 15-20% of the field players are under 5’4” (most of those are 5’3”-5’-4”) and about 60-70 are 5’6” or taller with about 1/2 of that over 5’8”. If you follow women’s college soccer the trends is bigger/tall. Travel soccer is physical, college soccer is even more. |
I think you got it reversed, the shorter limbed you are the more coordinated you are and less effort is needed to "learn timing". But TBH timing is a natural ability that is unrelated to height but shorter player have a definite advantage over taller players all things being equal. When it comes to strength, height does not equal mass or strength, your frame dictates that. |
Are you kidding me? The large athletes that fill the rosters in the MLS, NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL must blow your mind. LMFAO! |
You clearly haven't compared the heights of gymnasts/cross fitters/power lifters with those of professional ball players. Height doesn't mean strength. If height = strength then NBA players would dominate the strength category. Well...look up the NBA combine stats for Kevin Durant, and that's truly what's kidding you. |
Ok I will bite. Let's forget all of the major pro sports including soccer where height is a clear advantage (btw - this is a soccer board). Power lifting? You don't know the sport. The record holder in the bench press Julius Maddox is 6'3. Aleksy Lovchev in the power clean is 6'2. GTFO. |
| I think all those soccer players that were named are good vs the rest of the world, who are on average shorter than American women. The average player is going to get taller in the US game and I would venture the average height of the USWNT will go up over the next few years. |
Rose Lavell will drag the average height down. |
Current roster field players. They are tall now. 1- 5’1” 1- 5”4” 3- 5’5” 3- 5’6” 7- 5’7” 1- 5’8” 1- 5’9” 1- 5’10” 1- 6’0” |
Mewis? |
| My U16 DD was not even alive when Mia Hamm played her last international game. Going way way back on the list of shorter players. Good for you. |
Kristie Mewis is 5’8” |
And.... |
Sam...6’0” |
