They do if you continue on the team. If you leave for any reason you have to try out and may not make it back on.

I know the process, but in this special circumstance I don’t think it should necessarily be business as usual. There is a group of people who made a decision based on the pandemic and I think the right thing to do is to give them priority to fill open spots if they want to return.

I think this will happen anyway just by default. The swimmers who took this season off are probably decent swimmers and cooperative, know the routine, etc. I can't imagine a scenario under which most of the returning swimmers are not former RMSC swimmers.

No, our child swam with another child who took spring off and wanted to return in the fall. Child attended every practice and was declined reentry. It was really disappointing as child wasn't the fastest but really nice, good kid.

Do you mean another year? No one swam this spring.

Yes, another year.

Has anybody heard from the coach or aquatics manager about what the new restrictions do to RMSC?

No, I was curious about that too. They may not be letting people know after what happened the past few weeks until they have full clarification. We are the last to hear from our coach and I usually hear it from other parents in other groups or even here first.

We've heard they're still waiting to find out what it all means. It depends on interpretation and classification.

The new executive order says pools “must strictly comply with any guidance issued by DHHS.” Who knows what that means. Hopefully it means they can follow current plans that went through DHHS.

I don’t see how they continue practice if they have to follow the 10 person limit on indoor sports.

Will outdoor pools be restricted?

When will the county explain how the new restrictions apply to swim?

Right but there wasn't a pandemic another year. RMSC is operating at greatly reduced capacity and when they open back up there will be hundreds of open spots to fill which I would guess would mostly go to old RMSC swimmers. It's not a guarantee for any one individual kid but I would guess 80-90% would go to old RMSC kids.

I asked and the coach said the only option we had was to try out again and hope to get back on. I know its not realistic. What you hope and what they do are two different things.

Why would any program “reserve” a spot for somebody who takes a season off for any reason other than injury?
