Is having 4+ kids a status symbol?

So you’re just popping out kids to create future playmates? This is why I assume families with 4+ children are either religious nutters or profoundly unintelligent.

Usually the oldest raises the younger ones.

Not true.

We have 4. Four. Not a dozen. Everyone we know with 4 kids had them fairly close in age, so there’s no way for the oldest to raise the younger ones.

And, like others have already said, the 4th one is often a surprise due to unprotected sex—not religion.

The happiest most sexually active couples I know have 4 kids...and advanced degrees with well paying jobs.

Lol. Do you trade notes about the number of orgasms by family size? My childless cousin and her H are swingers, so I'm not so sure about your claim. That's why statements like yours are so stupid.

Swingers doesn't mean they have a lot of sex... Just means they get bored with only each other.

I have 7 kids. Are you telling me that after years of people mocking me for the size of our family that now I am finally hip and cool? Wait until I tell the kids.

I think so.

Plus, narcissism.

+1. They think they are such wonderful parents or the children they raise are just so fantastic there should be more of them. Also these families seem really into dressing the the kids like dolls and having lots of professional photos taken. Big social media presence, etc. It’s all just “look at us!”

How dare they have family photos and be proud of them! For shame.
I can’t even with this thread.

Also, plenty of large families don't have ANY social media presence... You don't know about them. Personally, I have never posted a single pic of any of my kids anywhere on the internet. (I believe each person owns the right to their own face and would only post pics once my kids are old enough to consent)

I only see it with Duggar, Kardashians and other illeducated types.

Why would having four kids be a status symbol. Stupidity to ask and stupidity to have that many kids.

Off the top of my head, I think the only women we know with 4 or more are low class from my hometown and the babies were all very likely "medicaid babies". 2 to 3 seems to be ideal affluent family planning.

Literally every mom of 4 or more has shared the last baby was a surprise after a week of fabulous sex. It’s not that easy to get pregnant when you’re older. It’s usually the result of regular sex.

I’m a mom of 4 btw. And I think the comments about people like us being stupid, poor, and/or religious nuts are just plain wrong.

Is illeducated a work, Karen?

No. Just stupid for having so many kids.

If it were a status symbol then every rich family would want 4+ kids. Which they don’t.

We are about to have 4, and don’t know many people with 4. I can think of 4 families off the top of my head with 4, 2 are results of second marriages.

This

4 kids usually aren’t spaces enough apart to do this. But keep saying it every damn time.
You are talking Duggar like families. Which is very different than 4 kids.

Sure, we totally believe you. Nothing is sexier than a stretched out uterus, pelvic prolapse and a litter of children.
