Stanford, Duke, MIT, Chicago, Northwestern, Cal Tech (I guess?)...Hopkins? Makes 15.

I really can't think of a good reason to distinguish between Northwestern/Hopkins and schools like Vanderbilt, WUSTL, Rice, and Emory. Also, Caltech is better than MIT.

Ivy Plus is not top 15, it is 12 schools. Ivy Plus is defined as: Ivy League, Duke, Stanford, MIT and Chicago.

Duke really doesn’t deserve to be on that list. I’ve met so many rich idiot bros that went there, coasting on the coattails of their parents. Duke deserves to be dropped for CalTech or Hopkins.

Caltech is too small a school to make a splash, almost provincial

Define "make a splash".
Was this a splash? https://www.caltech.edu/about/legacy/historic-awards-honors/nobel-laureates

Don't forget Obama also got one coming out of Occidental. Nobel is a joke. Even Obama will tell you he seriously doesn't know why he got one. Also, don't forget Jean-Paul Sartre who turned down the prize by stating who gets Nobel is too random.

People in this forum are trying to sh*t on Caltech by sh*tting on Nobel prizes?

This wins the Pulitzer Prize for stupid writing.

Can you seriously say Obama "deserved" the Nobel medal? Obama got the little toy Nobel medallion the same way your kids got their snap-together Cap'n Crunch Surfers toys - straight out of a cereal box.

Go ahead and tell what Obama did to deserve the prize. Even Obama has no idea what he did to win.

It's incredible that the reasons given for Obama are the exact opposite of Trump's actions.

Is it any wonder people think the noble prize is is one big joke?

When Jean-Paul Sartre turned down the nobel for literature, he said the most difficult part in turning down the "honor" was declining the $$$$ that came with the prize. Nevertheless, he turned it down on the ground that the prize could have - should have - gone to others more deserving.

Such universities accept gifted children. Introductory essays are checked for plagiarism during exams. I think this is quite justified. Elite universities must provide proper quality education.

Is there an offended CalTech grad in here? Geez. Can we move on? NP, btw.

When and for whom? Never seen Columbia lumped with HYP unless other schools were in the mix as well.

The only people who lump Columbia in with HYP are Columbia grads.

Neither Caltech nor MIT really belong on a list like this. They're two of the four best schools in the country but they have a very different type of prestige when compared to the more normal fancy colleges.
