Not being snarky: do you know what OP means? It’s original post/poster. I’m not the OP, and I’ve clearly stated that I’m one of the presumably several posters referencing the Crazy Cape Cod Lady—noting I can’t take credit for that moniker since I read it in another thread. I’m not sure why you continue to blame the OP for everything, so I’m truly curious if you simply don’t understand what OP means? Regarding jokes: I truly hope you realize sharks don’t walk on the land and hire paid lobbyists to attract fresh meat to Cape Cod. Here’s another one: I was skimming real estate on Redfin for Barnstable County, and I swear every listing had at least one visible shark fin in the pictures. ^^^That’s a joke. For whatever reason, you feel personally hurt. I’m sorry that your feelings are hurt. Truly. But...wait for it...you need to own up to aggressively criticizing the entire state of NC, it’s residents, and tourists who enjoy the OBX. Your comments have been very mean. (And never in a joking way.) Can you acknowledge that, apologize, and do better? Do you similarly criticize Disney? If so, then I’d appreciate an apology for Disney aficionados as well. No rush; I’ll turn back to my to do list while I wait. (Next on the list: set a google alert for Cape Cod shark attacks followed by investigating the board of directors of the Land Shark Lobby Group.) |
DP: um, what? Fact: it is too far a drive for OP. Fact: there is a historic and current shark issue there. Google the articles this week plus the annual shark research. Fact: the water is colder than points further south. Fact: rentals are expensive. Fact: it is preppy. Nobody calls OCMD or NJ beaches preppy; most people call all MA beaches preppy. I’ll give you a win on CC being a haven for snooty aunts. I mean, it might be—but we don’t have the data yet to support the assertion. |
Truro and Dennis are on opposite sides of the Cape, about 30 miles away - that is one busy shark! |

It all makes sense now! Cape Girl is a legit thing! Scroll down to read the second definition. I feel like I really learned something today. |
You seem quite out of touch with reality. People have shared facts as well as their own experiences. You discount all of them as if you are the only one who decides what is “real”. You also conflate users in just about every post. It’s mind-boggling how routinely you do it. |

OP sounds like a stalker. |

Shark sighting off Cape Cod shore closes beach today (Sunday, July 5). |
I noted the beach closure in nearly real time earlier today. Same story as PP directly above posted but my shark game is fast! |

OP is a hired hand for the OBX tourist industry lobby. |
| Wow, this thread has legs. Back to original questions, what do you think of Cape Cod? I like it a lot. It's not perfect, but every beach up and down the east coast is a trade-off in some regard. I agree that Cape Cod water is a little too cool for me, but it's a beautiful place. I will catch flack for this, but Cape Cod is very similar to the Outer Banks IMHO. Both are long slivers of sand with a bunch of different villages that offer a lot of different experiences. Both have the bustling touristy vacation complete with restaurants, minigolf, arcades, shops...etc. Both also have quiet villages and lots of open space where you can almost have the beach to yourself. I love Cape Cod and OBX. I think if you really like the beach, like water activities, you're going to be able to enjoy either locale. You just need to do some research and know where to go to enjoy yourself. |
It was cloudy Sunday so not much of an issue. |
Cloudy with a chance of shark bite! |
| Tacky. |
| I didn’t like it at all. Crappy beaches. Rocky and too cold to swim. |
| I know a lot about Cape Cod. It’s solid. I am headed there now. I just think the shark disavowal is weird. |
