So much smells so off around so many Republicans.

It is amazing how every one of the most deplorable House and Senate members have some tie to something related to Russia, whether things like this, or the Senators who spent July 4, 2018 in Moscow, or the ones who were part of a specific "modeling agency"

I was trying to figure out why Madison Cawthorn would be the target of a honeypot before he even ran for Congress, and then I discovered that his family is close to Mark Meadows (Cawthorn's dad is/was Meadows' financial advisor, Meadows helped Cawthorn get a good lawyer in Florida to collect on his accident, and Cawthorn worked for Meadows).

If Pete Strzok thinks something is up, then something is up

Why would this guy need to make up a fake CrossFit competition to introduce them? He could have just invited them both to dinner, unless for some reason he was trying to distance himself from the meeting.

This turd lies like he’s breathing, so this elaborate story could be completely fabricated as well

Since the fact check above indicates that several details cannot be true…

Saying it’s a Russian honeypot operation is just dumb. I dislike Cawthorn more than most but the bride divorcing him seems to have been born and bred in Florida. The story Cawthorn himself told is extremely odd but jumping to conclusions is silly. Yes I think he’s evil and corrupt and seems to sympathize with Putin but that’s just the GOP way.

The "Trumpland" referred to in 2016 is still alive and well within the FBI and DoJ. There's your "deep state."

It could be he made the whole thing up.

It could be that there is truth mixed with lies.

It could be that there’s truth mixed with lies mixed with crimes.

It could be that there’s truth mixed with lies mixed with crimes mixed with Russia using him.

Many variations are possible. The fact that he’s using Russia’s POV suggests he’s on their team, like so many Republicans.

Because this fake captain is clearly significantly smarter than Cawthorne and was trying to give himself plausible deniability and to cover her tracks. The obfuscation, even though obvious, makes it harder to track and pin down this mysterious middle man who help recruit Cawthorne into the scheme. Also inviting them to dinner could leave a trail if the hotel uses a computer for reservations. They can go back and pull the reservation and contact info. The fake CrossFit competition helps remove even that little bit of a paper trail back to the recruiter.

So at best, he is a pathological liar. North Carolinians should be proud, for electing a kid who is a dumb pathological liar.

Though they will probably pretend this is all some kind of fake news, call everyone else liars and re-elect him. That's today's GOP.

Nah. He smells a little more fishy than a lot of him and his connection to Russia is very interesting. Very.
