But do other DC competitive private schools (GDS, STA, NCS, Maret) have such high turnover (6 counselors in 5 years) in college counseling? It is hard to believe Sidwell has significantly more “bad” patents than those other similar schools in a number of consecutive years. It is irresponsible for the upper school administration to blame the parents for their mid-management.

Does Sidwell pay its college counselors lower than other DC private schools?

No - probably more. They just feel disrespected by an incompetent administration.

The parents this year are totally chill. The previous year was an aberration of type-a's.

I agree that Friends needs to add more counselors and to pay them more. Also worth noting that Ortiz was an aberration.

Why would you think that is hard to believe?

What is exactly is the poor treatment of the CCO by admin? Their work seems to be pretty independent. It's not like they are teachers who interface regularly with admin.

I think the poster who keeps referring to "incompetent admin" has an axe of her own to grind.

+1

My read of the CCO staff is that they are more than competent and engaged with their students. I am not seeing the issue.

Sounds like she got a job at another school. I don't think one can draw negative conclusions - rightfully, no one is privy to her personal life and life decisions.
