FCPS School Board candidates in Dranesville

I hope you’re proud of yourself. That’s some Grade A snark.

Perhaps you can start a movement for reparations to the Langley and McLean families who’ve been injured by the School Board’s failure to remember they are the center of the universe.

No way they had any updates on how long the renovation at LANGLEY would take.

Everyone who watched work sessions is imagining the invocation of One Fairfax as the reason for the boundary policy change.

Had to fix previous post. They absolutely didn't know that parents and students were upset. They absolutely did NOT tell Strauss that McLean had to wait for the new policy. Brabrand did not say "I get that there's tension" indicating that he knew kids were squished every day when there was space nearby and he just really really really wanted a new policy first.

The School Board was unable to address overcrowding with existing version 8130.7

Braband made it quite clear that he did not want to do a "boundary lite." He wanted to do countywide..

He’d said he did not want to do any more limited administrative boundary changes with no transparency and that he wanted the general policy revised before undertaking larger boundary studies.

That is not the same thing as saying he wanted county-wide boundary changes.

Why persist with half-truths to distort things and scare people?

Because fear and lies are all republicans have in their playbook. The amount of speculation, lies and fear lingering on DCUM regarding “boundary changes” is epic.
I can only assume it is a coordinated strategy.

You don't think there are any Dems involved in "One Great Falls?" Seriously?

Maybe there are a few nominal Democrats, but none with Democratic values. The entire reason for Voices of Fairfax’s existence is to protect the interests of a single community in Dranesville: Langley parents who think their neighborhoods, unique among those in the county, should be permanently exempt from any future boundary studies. They could not care less about the rest of Dranesville or Fairfax County.

Of course, they’ll claim they are making a one-time decision to cross party lines, but they’d be right at home in a Trump rally, as would the slate of all-Republican candidates endorsed by VOF, including those endorsed by right-wing fanatic Sebastian Gorka.

You need to read the 2019 Bond Referendum. Then review the program capacity and enrollment for West Potomac, Lee, Edison, Mount Vernon. Begin the focus on West Potomac and Mount Vernon. Listen to the board of supervisors then decide if anyone in Dranesville is running this county or consuming resources inequitably. Your ire is misdirected.

Wow. If this is true, why did the School Board backpedal?

Why are you assuming they did? You’ve bought into the story told here that one Fairfax meant massive bussing away from neighborhood schools.

Go listen to the boundary work sessions. Pay special attention to Pat Hynes. Look at the changes to the policy that they were planning. Doesn't take rocket science. It's in writing and on tape.

Meh. Hynes requested the hot spots like McLean be included in an amended CIP and supported Strauss’s motion last week. It was Schultz and Wilson who refused to support relief for the McLean overcrowding. The Republicans would rather keep kids in trailers longer so people get more agitated. If there’s any backpedaling, it’s the Republicans trying to spin Wilson’s comments that FCPS shouldn’t proceed with a boundary study because Langley and McLean are both wealthy pyramids. That’s on the tape and you don’t even need to go back a week to find it.

They had to, as Gamarra said, stop the hemorrhaging.

So no more work on the vital revision of boundary policy.

Brabrand can't say "One Fairfax" to parents.

Magically enough votes for a boundary study appear. (What they actually do remains to be seen, they haven't exactly been above board so far)

Are these little rants supposed to make people vote for more morons like Tom Wilson? The Republicans aren’t actually offering the area’s best and brightest as alternatives.

I don’t know how Michael Karloutsos survives being Deputy Chief of Protocol for the State Department in the Trump Administration. Maybe it’s s glorified caterer’s position, but he’s surely enmeshed in some of what will surface in the impeachment inquiry. His former boss in State, Sean Lawler, was already the subject of an Office of the Inspector General inquiry.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they went back to Philadelphia, although he was controversial there, too - at one point taxpayers were paying the utility bills for a restaurant he owned there. At a minimum, people are entitled to ask Anastasia whether they’d stay in Virginia through the end of 2023. We shouldn’t have to foot the bill for another special election.

Oh, please. This is ridiculous.

The last School Board special election cost $250K, which could have been avoided if one of the Republicans on the School Board had stayed in office just 10 more days (Hough was still living in the area).
