Bullis concerns

Oh honey

Ask yourself. Could your kid make the national champions? Genuine question.

What this all says to me is that this school really focuses on sports and on money. Many people will not see “national champions in lacrosse” as a selling point.

Ah, Bullis bashing again. I still don’t understand why folks try to fight all these anonymous trolls who are invested in dragging the school through the mud. To hell with them. Why do you care? If your child is happy and is receiving a great education there, log off DCUM and stay off like the vast majority of other parents.

The folks who are having a good experience there (or at any school) aren’t looking to share that info on DCUM, and those with only negative things to say shout about it from the rooftops on here. So, opinions are incredibly skewed, and anyone on here should realize that. Sadly, I don’t think prospective parents do, and they read all of this and think that the thoughts expressed are universal.

Mind you, there are very few posters who have first-hand experience of the school, so the basis of most of these opinions is rumors, second-hand info, recycled opinions from those who’ve had negative experiences themselves at the school, or other DCUM threads. Suffice to say that unless your child attends maybe four schools in this area, and your school sends all its graduates to Ivy League colleges, your school is a waste of space. Start from that assumption, and you will understand everything you need to about how DCUM operates. I fully expect folks to trash this post, but again, it’s DCUM, so trash away! You can’t help it

Have a good evening.

The way people are acting, both for and against Bullis, is very childish. I hear the smack talk, but have yet to hear how or why people know this to be true. If you are going to speak badly from personal experience, it would be more helpful to both sides to give specific examples. You could actually help bring about change by doing so and wouldn’t that be more productive than whining about how bad it is?

We will take a look at the Open House in the fall. I would appreciate anything anyone can provide on the Bullis financial situation, as i have heard that the costs for the lower school expansion plus the new buildings are not being covered as originally projected and that may affect tuition over the next four years. Also any update on the search for a new head of school would be very helpful.

And this goes in 3...2...1

We are a Bullis family and I would honestly like to hear the stories beyond “Boarman is awful” (I agree), “stuck up people”, “bullies”. That is all very generalized and I’d really would be interested in hearing more detail. We are still in lower school and the families that I know there are not what other posters are describing. We have the ability to change the school for the better if we band together, but generalized negative statements don’t do much to really get to the bottom of the issue. We all know Boarman is leaving, so to me, that’s a non issue. The families that I know all want the school to focus more on education and showcasing the amazing teachers that we have. The teachers that my kids have had are incredible and really helped my kids grow and come out of their shells. Any bullying that I have heard of has been taken care of immediately and they do not take it lightly. I have seen more bullying on this thread than I have at the school. The whole school is not “me-me-me” and if that was your experience there, I truly am sorry to hear that, as my experience has been the complete opposite so far.

May I ask why you say the whole school has that attitude?

Here's the DCUM deal... If you respond and quote a post that is requested to be deleted, then your post gets deleted too. So even the above question will disappear in 3, 2, 1...

That sounds like a great plan. How about we all agree to have this discussion and provide specific examples in an open forum where all posts are retained?

Not being able to cover payroll isn't generally considered a sign of financial strength, but I have no idea what the school's actual financial situation is. I do know that my kid suffered from a year of pretty disgruntled teachers.

Turns out the teachers didn't like being asked to take a pay cut to cover the budget shortfall. Do you rock it at work when you feel undervalued and underpaid?

You aren't selling the Bullis community well.
