If teachers strike nationally, could they bring the NRA to its knees?

I understand; however, you are mistaking causal and correlation. I have not read anything here or anywhere else online about this that shows that this "strike" will solve the problem. All I see and hear is a lot of emotion and foot stomping from people refusing to step up to the plate and do the work of changing laws and policies while depriving children of their right to learn.

All I see and hear is a lot of emotion and foot stomping from people about how other people shouldn't protest because it won't do anything anyway.

Will the strike, all by itself, magically solve this problem? Nope. Is it a start? It sure is.

No, it is a good reason for you to throw a hissy fit and have it be seen as marginally acceptable behavior. Go back and read the posts. The people who are stomping their feet are the ones casting shade and acting out because they want to have a strike. It is no wonder that teachers are treated with such disdain by so many. It would behoove us all to remember that we will accomplish more if we use reason and intellect instead of hysterics and screeching voices. A strike serves no purpose and it is a start to nothing.

I am another teacher who will refuse to strike and who absolutely will not walk out. I will be in my classroom doing my job and teaching whichever children are there for me to teach.

If you want to end this, strengthen families. Almost none of these mass murderers comes from intact families.

If you got divorced (or counseled someone else to), or had a child out of wedlock, you are a big part of the problem.

I’m sure the parents of your students will clearly see the message you’re really sending. Be prepared for consequences.

I prefer to drive congress nuts over this. I actually don't want kids all going outside at the same time. Do you realize how easy it would be for another school shooter to come by and have a mass shooting with everyone in the same place at once?

PP, this happens twice a day, every day, at arrival and dismissal.

If you don't want to strike, then don't strike. How you characterize the issue is up to you; what you do about the issue is also up to you.

But I think that the people who don't want more gun regulation are worried about the protest (and rightfully so), else they wouldn't be telling us not to protest.

Cruz was adopted into an intact family, and then the mother was widowed.

The Va Tech shooter had an intact family.

Not the PP, but what message would that be?

Neither were the parents of Eric Harris or the parents of Dylan Kliebold.

He and his brother had the same mother, different fathers.

They were adopted later, but his biological parents were not together

So did the Columbine shooters. There are plenty of divorced people who are not part of the problem.
