+1

But it is the girls that aren’t in the top 50% and definitely not involved in sports and school clubs. Just the ones whose parents are full pay and they are entitled nobodys with way too much time on their hands and want to look cool. Pretty sad and pathetic.

Wow. Sad pathetic nobodies? I thought everyone at Holton cares about every girl at Holton.

Most Holton girls are great but there are bad seeds in every grade that continue to move along due to $$ the parents provide.

I assume you are referring to the PP with the terrific attitude at 23:11 - or perhaps that PP is a Holton mom. That queen bee attitude has to start somewhere.

And to test authority and get away with it, which they do daily.
They get addicted and smell. But, they are so popular, rich, and cool....

Not every student is doing whatever the issue is. Actually, most do not.

Not all jocks are doing the issue.

Not all the nerds are not doing the issue.

This is beginning to resemble a LSAT question

But the answer is that everyone is right! There are boring kids who don't do anything and are respectable. There are party kids who do everything and crash and burn. There are nerds who crash and burn and nerds who are anti-social freaks who wouldn't touch a can of beer for a million bucks. There are jocks who are dedicated to be healthy and fit and don't touch drugs. There are hot girls who go to all the parties and graduate without touching booze and are virgins. It's all over the place.

No one is denying that. The point is the kids whose parents pay or are athletic or academic scholars are not going to be disciplined. Everyone knows that in our private school. There is a hierarchy in who doesn’t have to be held accountable and it is sickening.

Anonymous wrote:Look, private or public, there are kids as young as 7th grade in private/6th in public doing this. It is pretty rampant by grades 9-10 despite what your kids are telling you. I hate to break it to private school parents, but your kids aren't immune from these things. All kids with a smart phone know so much more than you can even imagine. And those who don't have one yet, hear/see about on their friend's phones. Also any kids with older sibs/cousins know about it. They also know about pot and drinking and many of them have at minimum tried it. Our high schooler switched from public to private this year and based on discussions, the private school kids lag about a year behind public so from our family's experiences, plenty of 8/9 graders have already vaped and have moved onto drinking and pot.

You are a bit cynical. All kids don’t do this. I was always in the popular crowd and I never did drugs. I drink here and there but that was it. All kids are not going to do drugs. Maybe your kid is doing drugs or maybe he is in a faster crowd but don’t assume everyone else’s kid is doing it. I know many kids in high school that are pretty straight. The are very focused on athletics and for them they don’t want to party like some of the other kids.

it’s the “popular” crowd at our private that does all this! They are some the best students and athletes, btw. Never thought my kid would do it either but guess what we recently found? I throw away everything I find and I’m limiting his money but it feels like a losing battle. And they only have to be 18 to buy it themselves, it’s easy to get.

Ha!! At our school, the "best students" are not vaping...sorry. And perhaps that is true of your school, but you are in a fantasy land. My 4.3 GPA 36 ACT kid has never vaped...but he has watched all the "dumb athletes" doing it.

Ha! Sorry - at our school, it's some of the "best students" who are vaping, and some of the "middle of the road" students, and some of the "athletic kids", some of the "party kids", and some of the "uncool kids" too! And guess what I found in my kid's backpack last week? Never thought my kid would do it either. Also limiting his money, throwing away everything, and also feel like it's a losing battle. It's around, easy to get, easy to hack, easy to hide.

Vaping is pretty harmless. This is a lot of hysteria.

Why are you still at the school if this is true?

No, it isnt "pretty harmless" at all. It is highly addictive and the chemicals being used are not well studied although there are allegations and hypothesis that many of the chemicals are highly carcinogenic. Scientists have found a number of harmful chemicals in e-cigarette vapors including formaldehyde and acetaldehyde. There are reports of vaping causing bleeding mouths and throats. And these bloody sores seemed slow to heal - imagine therefore what may be going on in the lungs. Overall really, really bad for anyone, especially teenagers whose brains arent fully developed. Plus, for kids like mine who have major athletic goals on top of their academic goals, its even worse.

Ok, you are a hysteric.

Show me a single study that finds formaldehyde in Juul.

Show me a single news report of a Juul exploding.

The fact is that that lots of stuff in your food, your cosmetics and yes, your ethical drugs is not fully studied for health. You are happily imbibing these things, and you have this reefer madness hysteria about Juul.

Yes, nicotine is addictive. So is caffeine, alcohol, and various adrenaline inducing sports. SO is sex for that matter.

Looks like the vape lobbyists have joined our thread.

Not only that - kids hack the pods and re-load with THC oil. Definitely NOT harmless.
I'm no prude, but I don't want my 16 yo wasted, booted from school, or busted.

You say nicotine is addictive. OK. Your position is even though it is addictive, it’s not so bad because there are other bad things in the world and no one is upset about those? Regardless of whether vaping is/is not harmful, your argument is weak.
