| Kids will always find a way. It's the same with drugs and alcohol. Don't be so naive. |
They buy it the vape stores. Another parent told me that teens know that there can be dishonest people that work at the vape stores who look the other way. They then charge minors more and pocket the difference. It's all cash transitions because the teens don't want their parents to know. |
The device is so easily hidden and the teacher just needs to look away for 3 seconds for a kid to take a hit. |
| I believe kids could get kicked out at our school if doing this at school. Kids won’t risk it at school. |
Yes. I mentioned it on the other thread. My MS student has told me about kids doing it the bathroom of his private. Not in class, too few students, too much focus. |
Yes of course. Other schools won't kick them out, only yours. The other privates are sssoooo much more lax than yours. |
As someone who has taught in small settings, there is always a moment when you turn to write on the board, pick up a book, bend down to look at a student's paper. |
Yes, and I know private schools that are now doing drug testing on a random basis each month. |
| The bad children re load the Juul with nicotine flavor solution without the glycerol that makes the “vapor” that is visible... in this way it is easy to enjoy nicotine discreetly even in a class setting. |
| I just asked my DS about it. He says kids don't do it in school anymore...but they used to. He said that they stopped after they started "getting caught." I don't know what kind of consequences they had, but he said it isn't done in school anymore. I asked why kind of kids do it, and he said mostly kids from the LAX team. He said he has never tried it because he hasn't come across it in his circles. Besides as he said, "only idiots do it." |
| Used often in the bathroom at DC's Big 3. So depressing... |
What is the purpose of it? I don’t get it. |
| My DS says that kids at his private openly charge their juuls on their laptops - they are a usb charger and tiny. Then the kids can vape off-campus or in the bathrooms or after school. It's pretty tough to get away with it during class. But yes, it's a thing. And if you don't think it's happening at your school, your are naive. |
What is the purpose of it? And how old are the kids doing this? |
What’s the purpose of smoking cigarettes when you’re a teenager? “Looking cool,” thrill of maybe getting caught, bragging rights when you’re not, and addiction. |
