Eff you.

Nope. Time for liberals to feel the impact of their policies. Regular people have been furloughed and laid off for eons, and not only don't they get back pay, they usually lose their jobs entirely. Time for the protected liberal Feds to feel the pain of liberal policies they support.

We'll see how much you care about the Dreamers if it means you lose a week's pay.

You are a moron. Do you think only liberals are Feds?

Primarily, yes.

Depends on where you're looking. DOJ types -- probably yes. At my financial agency -- oh hell no. Overall people are pretty happy with Trump, euphoric re the market etc. and while we don't say it to be polite, no one cares all that much about the dreamers either . . . .

And no I don’t particularly care that they were brought as kids etc. But even if we were to work it out for them, now they want protections for their parents. GTFO. Why not protections for all their illegal aunts and 75 cousins each as well?

THIS. While I'm sympathetic to the plight of the Dreamers, and I hope that something is worked out to enable them to legally stay in the country, that's as far as my patience goes. Enough. And the aggressive way they're demanding to stay here is pretty off-putting. Stunts like this one, for instance, aren't doing them any favors.
http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2017/09/19/pelosi-dreamers-protest-over-daca-meade.hln/video/playlists/daca-decision/

THIS. The government is twisting itself in knots and likely going to shut down and furlough 800k+ people who are NOT guaranteed backpay so that 800k illegals have a permanent solution for staying here -- how about some gratitude? I don't care when or why they were brought here honestly. They will benefit from getting to stay permanently and have already benefited in many ways already -- like a free k-12 education in their local public school. Do they not think that there are millions of people in the world who want that and get denied routinely? That dude in China or India goes in for an interview at the embassy when he applies for a visa -- if the consular officer thinks his major in underwater petroleum engineering is unmarketable and he could become a drain on society; or gets the hint he's seeking a visa so that in 10 years he can bring in 12 more members of his family; or the consular officer is having a bad day and wants to deny the guy bc he's ugly -- gets what, he's denied and that's the end of the discussion. Meanwhile, these people waltzed across the border and live like they are entitled to be here and how dare anyone say otherwise. They and their supporters are entitled and obnoxious -- it's off putting.

Agree. And the way they disrespected Pelosi - like the spoiled, entitled brats they are - and now Pelosi & Co. are willing to (possibly) hurt the liVelihoods of nearly 1 million people in favor of them?

THIS. And I am NOT buying that -- oh they are ALL college grads who are teachers helping humanity or serving the country or at West Point or med school. Give me a freaking break. Those are just the only ones that their advocates want to highlight. Only about 60% of Americans go to college and I have zero reason to believe that this population has a higher % of college grads.

Correctomundo! Did you know that 21% of Dreamers are high school dropouts? And that only 22% are college graduates, compared to 32% of Americans? Let's not paint these Dreamers are such an unusually successful group. It's false, and only meant to advance the liberal narrative.

Oh wow -- had no idea. You're being handed a free k-12 public school education and 1/5 of you don't even finish it?? What exactly were your parents running across the border for -- was education NOT one of those things? And yet to hear people (liberals) speak about them -- they are the next Asian community-- i.e. nose to the grindstone; every kid MUST go to college; a shit ton of kids going into high paying professions like engineering in Silicon Valley; doctors; lawyers. Guess that isn't true with 22% college grads.

And the 1/5 who are high school drop outs are the very ones are will be on welfare, if amnesty kicks in, or via their anchor babies, if it's doesn't. Why are we fighting to keep illegal immigrant high school drop-outs here?

Seriously - amnesty? Just give them freaking permanent work permits and be done with it. Do we really need them to have a path to citizenship so they can be sponsoring long lost relatives to come over the day after they're citizens? And I can't imagine the stats are any different for them vs. American populations -- the less education you have, the more likely you are to get pregnant young; if you're an unwed/teen mom, your kid's chances of being an unwed teen mom is way higher and chance of going to college is way lower. Great. This is decades/generations of cost in a country that already has 300 mil of its own citizens to deal with . . . .

The libs will push for citizenship because....votes. These Dreamers will vote 80% for the D. As will aroind 95% of the high school dropouts because.....welfare.

If the Democrats want to hold the budget hostage because they want a DACA deal then shame on them. Deal with DACA separately. Shame an any party that continues to tack different agendas together as a way to fight the other side. The spending bill doesn't, and shouldn't, have anything to do with DACA.

Do you know why DACA is an issue today? Because the GOP was never once willing to put it to the floor for a vote, so no.

DACA is an aissue today because we let people walk across the border and claim self-citizenship by dropping a kid. Then we don't enforce the laws on the books. That's a fact. No other country has that nonsense.

True, but can we please distinguish between DACA and "Dreamers"? They are NOT the same and NOT interchangeable terms.

Dreamers were all born elsewhere and brought illegally into the U.S. as minors. A new study estimated that there may be 3.6m Dreamers.
DACA are a subset of Dreamers, born in certain years and brought into the U.S. in a certain period. There are 800K DACA recipients. Older Dreamers are not eligible for DACA.

You are typing this without understanding, this has been happening for years, you know, when the GOP was the minority party on the hill and even worse, when it was the majority party with an Executive from the other party. So please, spare the BS. The GOP stole a supreme court seat and hundreds of judicial appointments. The GOP torpedoed decent health care solutions and an immigration bill that would have addressed many of the issues on the table today.

But all the things they (GOP) did -- they did for the benefit of Americans (whether you agree with the positions or not). What gets me is that Dems are doing this to benefit ILLEGALS -- i.e. NOT Americans, NOT people who are entitled to be here. If we can work out some solution for them, fine. If not, why not give some thought to the 310mil+ LEGAL Americans here?!

Foreign investors benefited from tax reform, more than many Americans.

Democrats are fighting for policies that a majority of Americans support. Policies like CHIP and DACA that do not punish kids for the actions of their parents. As shown in the election, more Americans support liberal policies than conservative policies.

This is stupid. There are no Dreamers. There never was a Dream Act, so how does anybody know who they might have been. DACA is deferred action/prosecutorial discretion implemented by DHS, they could expand or contract it anyway they want. A path to citizenship can only be passed by Congress, which is why DACA was only a temporary fix.

LOL. Yes. I'm not suggesting that it worked out to help YOU -- but it was MEANT to help some Americans somewhere. Totally different IMO to be soooo focused on helping illegals.

You're in sad, bitter 15% minority of the country. Why don't you stop stewing in rage and do something productive?

A majority of voters, 58 percent, think these undocumented immigrants, also known as Dreamers, should be allowed to stay and become citizens if they meet certain requirements — a sentiment that goes well beyond the existing DACA program. Another 18 percent think they should be allowed to stay and become legal residents, but not citizens. Only 15 percent think they should be removed or deported from the country.
