I'll take Kansas thanks

You are comparing a whole state to a city? Do you know WHY Detroit went bankrupt? It's government was TOO large and pensions were too fat. A problem that a lot of cities are facing. While in Kansas, people cannot even get basic services because they failed to realize that they needed more government than they thought.

Also, I do not know if you have been to Detroit lately, but there is a huge amount of development AND gentrification. The bankruptcy was a reset button. So right now, I would take Detroit and it would not even be close.

It went bankrupt because it was controlled by Democrats.

yeah, but you know exactly why PP prefers Kansas to Detroit

That's easy.

Almost everywhere is preferable to Detroit.

That's why you don't live there, either.

Quite apart from the fact that there are Democratic senators up for reelection in 2018 who are vulnerable and will support this and other nominations.

Not enough to change the basic fact that this guy is in bed with Russia, and we are in frequent conflict with Russia.

He will be cast out on those grounds.

He has Cheney support so, he must be fabulous right .

He may not be confirmed if Dems can get 3 GOP to vote against him, e.g. McCain, Graham, Rubio. Maybe even McConnell

McCain and Graham are definitely question marks. Rubio and McConnell will vote for him.

Also, you are not allowing for the Democrats who will vote for him and other Trump nominees.

Manchin and Heidi H will likely vote for him and there are an additional eight or nine Democrats up for reelection who are in red states or states that Trump won and some are way more concerned with their own political survival than party loyalty.

We"ll see. Most folks aren't crazy about throwing themselves in with a widely unpopular president.
