This will be a very interesting experiment. If this administration/cabinet is able to have even modest success it will signal to the greater business community a return of the private citizen as temporary government employee.
That wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. |
Surely you jest! Private citizens don't know what is in their best interest or the country's best interest! Why do you think we have a huge government, career politicians and layer after layer of policy wonk? We have them because THEY AND ONLY THEY know what's good. You silly civilian! |
I know. Unlike the very rich and out of touch people who are now appointed and have no clue about how anything works, including the Constitution. But it's ok, they will take care of their bottom line (I mean, no way a business person would have any conflicts of interests), and that will trickle down to you! Voila! |

A rich white guy, decorated by the Russians with the Order of Friendship Medal. How could Trump not reward Putin with a pick like this after Putin worked so hard for Trump?
BTW the humiliation of Mitt Romney is now complete. |
| Tillerson's net worth is a mere $151M. Trump threw a bone to the working people by not picking another billionaire. |
| Sounds like the most talented negotiator (or as Trump would say "a real killer") in the USA. How's that a bad thing? |

Pro Russian = trump nomination
Welcome to the "puppet" show |
Another corporate billionaire who has dedicated his life to money and couldn't care less about America or its people. FFS, Trumpies: are you finally starting to see what's going on here? |
Because only American politicians on the hill feel beholden to American corporate interests. The rest of the world doesn't give a shit about Exxon. As such, the SoS should be adept at diplomacy...and should understand the nuances of global quirks and interests. |
They'll keep promoting corporate interests, raping and pillaging while in power and setting the stage so they can continue to reap benefits following the administration. Americans will be screwed. |
I did not vote for Trump but dumping on just about everyone of his appointments causes one to dismiss legitimate criticism. Trump will be president for the next four years whether you like it or not ....... so just get used to it or remain pissed off. |
So you think opposition should be nonexistent? Are you aware how democracy works? |
Oppose all you want but with the presidency, senate and house all in the control of the Republicans you are not going to be able to do much. Besides thanks to Reid and the Democrats, they killed the filibuster for most judicial and executive appointments. Focus on 2018 when Democrats have 25 senate seats up for reelection. Also come 2020, don't nominate someone like Hillary who was probably the only Democrat who Trump could actually defeat. I don't care about glass ceilings if the end result is that we elect someone like Trump. |
That's not what you said in the original post. |
| The people who voted for Trump are nuts. Absolutely nuts. |
