Ok. But OPs kid is now 8. |
Yeah, sorry, not going to worry about leaving my baby or kid in the car to use the ATM, run back inside the house for a minute, or to pay for gas inside. It’s just not much of a risk and not a big deal. |

Can I leave my infant in the car alone to...
- get kidnapped, - get carnapped - die of CO poisoning - die of heat in a hot car - die of cold I guess? |
Oh, the kid survived? What a stroke of good luck! |
Omg it’s 3 minutes being 10 feet away some of y’all have lost it |
+1 |
This is from 2014. However, my neighbor's kid was in the car, dad a few feet away with it running. Someone jumped in and took off. Fortunately they left the car about a block away. |
No fool! Anything could happen. |
Not everyone lives on your cul de sac. |
And a mom in my neighborhood was walking to the store with her infant in an Ergo carrier and someone came and assaulted her with a brick, knocking her down and stealing her phone. Thankfully she (and her baby she was carrying!) were fine in the end. Point being, there is nothing inherently more dangerous about a baby being in a car next to their parent, vs being held by their parent. |
So now one cannot buckle their kid into the car (with it already running, for AC, since it's summer) and then step away, close the door, and open the driver's door to get in, maybe saying hi to a friend walking past for a couple seconds, because someone might steal the car with the owner standing right next to it, like in this scenario? This is the level of intensity and vigilance we must maintain? |
Yes you can. |
A few cars away? In DC? I wouldn't would the rise in car jackings. |
We are not "overreacting." YOU are breaking the law. |
