And, in addition - McCain said he would be inclined to support it BUT he would have to know the details. Unfortunately, this president did not give him the courtesy of knowing the details since he refused to inform Congress 30 days in advance. Kind of hard to support something you know nothing about.

Since he was opposed to the five then, I would suppose he would be opposed to those now.

He was opposed to those five being released as a confidence building measure. But, "this idea is for an exchange of prisoners for our American fighting man" which he "would be inclined to support." The five prisoners didn't change. The reason for their release did.

Do you want to prosecute the Mexicans who break American laws by illegally entering the United States? Or do you just favor the prosecution of American's who break Mexican laws?

The guy has been in jail for several weeks now. It's time to let him go. If you had seen the pictures of the crossing, you would understand his mistake.

+1000. Besides, he made a MISTAKE!!! Why can't some of you idiots figure out this was not intentional and that Mexico needs to let him go NOW.

How about we trade thousands of illegal immigrants in our prisons to Mexico for our guy back. Oh wait Obama released them into the general public.

C’mon everyone. We are being too tough on Bergdahl and the allegation that he deserted his post. After all, Susan Rice said he served with “honor and distinction.” And we know how accurate her statements are, so it must be true.

Actually, more significant are the Mexican nationals that have been executed in the US. In particular, Texas has executed at least three who were prohibited from consular access, which is a violation of international law. Both the Bush and Obama administrations argued that the executions would negatively impact the way American citizens are treated in other countries. This could very well be a case in point. There are about 40 other Mexicans on death row. Maybe if a few of them had their sentences reduced to life without parole, the Mexicans might have a better attitude about Tahmooressi?

You are in no position to criticize the accuracy of other's statements. Looks to getting your own house in order first.

While it is apparently not a crime, I do wonder why a guy who has PTSD is driving around with three guns. That seems problematic on the face of it. Didn't a guy with PTSD freak out recently and shoot someone at a gun range?

You know, we need a STRONG American leader, a REAL leader with REAL conservative values to deal with these kinds of POW/Hostage situations. Someone like Ronald Reagan.

What would Ronald Reagan have done in a situation like this?

Ohhhh... that's right... he would have given our enemies 1,500 missiles.

Obama knew who he was releasing. He thought the American public would applaud him. He thought the military would applaud him. He is clearly incorrect. Completely out of touch

Do you people know the difference between a POW and a terrorist? Really, people use some common sense. Are we now at the point that anytime someone is against the US is a terrorist? That word is going to come back to bite us in the butt one day. Look, these five people were Taliban soldiers. They were not Al Qaeda. They were Taliban and we invaded their country, just like we invaded Vietnam. Were the Vietnamese also terrorists because they resisted a foreign invasion. Thats what the Taliban soldiers were doing at the time of their capture, resisting foreign invaders. That makes the POWs, just like hypocrite John McCain. Under the international rules of law, upon the conclusion or wars, POWS are to NE returned. Therefore, those five would have been released anyway, we just received a POW in return.

Now if America would like to stop following these rules, I am sure future USA soldiers will feel the brunt of this the most, as we, Americans, engage in war the most. We

The war is not over. Big difference.

Were you there? How do you know it wasn't intentional. People take guns across the border all the time. It's only unintentional when the person is caught.

The war is winding down, or haven't you heard. People were still dying when McCain was prisoner swapped as well, but the war was still practically over.

"Winding down" is not the same as being over. Withdrawal is one of the most sensitive parts of a military operation. How to protect the troops that are left as you pull down is problematic.
