I'm PP. I dunno, I find the many journalists I know personally to be a fantastically self-congratulatory bunch, and not such rigorous analysts or such objective truth-seekers at the end of the day. At best, they're storytellers. No one wanted his/her name or network attached to this story, so they killed it. But the local news teams were indeed doing exactly what they're engaged to do. |
No, silly. NW DC is lousy with journalists. We all know our fair share. |
The days of trusted journalist like Walter Cronkite are long gone. |
Oh, wait, this guy here knows a journalist! Now I'm embarrassed I had an opinion. |
It's not just DC. The New York Times is incredibly biased on certain stories. The few journalists I know take no responsibility for anything. They think they're hard hitting journalists, but they're as biased as anyone on DCUM or Fox News. They're not vocal about it - they would never say something like, "this story doesn't fit my journalistic bias, so I won't report it." They will just think a story or a detail not to be newsworthy. |

I thought I heard a reference to this on the Channel 9 local news tonight at 7 pm. |
"Happy-Action News at 11" isn't exactly Pulitzer school. |
My family and I exited the metro a bit before the shooting, and were both surprised and reassured by the perhaps 8-10 police people there. Then we overheard the helicopter and the sirens and then saw the whole mess at Connecticut. Simply surreal the shooting took place in the midst of intense police presence and huge crowds. Time for impunity to end. |
Okay, you're right. Journalists are all assholes and DCUM is a fantastically reliable news source. Oh, and the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy are all real and take group vacations to the Bahamas.
Morons like you are killing journalism because you refuse to pay for actual news, dumb the whole bloody system down and only want to hear/believe what reinforces your preconceived notions. |
So what is the real story behind the shooting? Thugs or was it a guy who shot himself by accident in the hand? |
The answer is no one knows and likely no one ever will. People who don't live in the neighborhood don't care about safety. They just hate this ugly issue so they want ignore it. |
Gang activity, it seems: http://m.washingtonpost.com/local/crime/police-search-for-suspects-motive-in-shooting-outside-national-zoo/2014/04/22/725a0e2a-ca23-11e3-93eb-6c0037dde2ad_story.html |
Very sophisticated dog whistle you are trying to deploy here. |
The zoo is free to the public so, outside of closing for the day, there is no way to prevent AA Family Day. And I don't think it should be closed. I DO think it should be closed to high schoolers. Many other school districts are also out on Easter Monday and, unfortunately, some use this day as the day to handle beefs with rival schools/gangs/etc. Banning entry to teens who aren't accompanied by an adult would be a great first step. Large groups of unaccompanied minors is never a good idea.
-AA woman who is annoyed by the calls for black leaders to do something. I don't have a "leader" and the opinion of Jesse and Sharpton only seems to matter to racist white folks looking to justify their disgusting mindset |
