Why do people HATE Chicos so much?

Anonymous
I shopped at Chico's 20 years ago through two pregnancies--it was great for stretchy pants and tops I could wear to work. (Solid colors, not the crazy prints.) When I got my figure back I stopped shopping there.

The vast majority is plastic stuff. Very few items that are wool and cashmere, no silk. So c*appy fabric. When they do have an item with better quality fabric, like the one below, the cut is atrocious. These pants need pockets and a shorter waist.

I know Chico's fills a niche and at 54, I am their target but I can't do it. My 82 year old mom shops there and the clothes look good her but I'm just not ready. I don't like Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, J. Crew or WHBM so sometimes I'm at a loss. I've been trying some online stores like Modern Citizen and Theory Factory. I've even gotten some cheap basics off of Amazon. It's a struggle if you're 50+, want to be current and have a hard to fit body!

I don’t shop at Chico’s.

I’m on the other side of menopause - what is in store for them? Had several months of bloat but that stopped when I started wearing a corset a few hours a day and I got my waist back.

How many 35+ women really have that shape?

Huh? I'm 47 and have a great figure.

Yeah. I think I have actually gotten better with time. I am hourglass shaped and only now am I coming into my own. As a young woman I was going for the skinny look and I didn’t dress for my figure. Defined waist, boobs (even if they sag a touch), and ok sized hips. I work out moderately, eat well, and have good genes. But I didn’t knew that when i was younger.

How is the current sizing? I ordered a dress a size larger now I wonder if I should expect to return it.

Wow! In reading the comments on here so many people w negativity re: body type and body shaming, and agism. Chicos has all size clothing and if you don’t like their style then don’t shop there. I think the original question was “why do people hate Chico’s so much”. Where I really don’t like that question, as I believe it leads to negativity, everyone is entitled to their opinion about clothing. It may not be your style of clothing, maybe you don’t like their prints or the fabric etc. but to get into such negativity on other aspects in steering away from the original question and breeding negativity. About the original question, I happen to like some of Chico’s clothing that I have purchased and some of the pants have had great fabric, a couple of the tops have been a little thin in the fabric.

I’ve never shopped there, but an ad keeps popping up with cute cropped palazzo pants with buttons near the hem. Tempted to buy them.

This thread is 10 years old, so a lot of the women who were too young for Chico’s when it started have probably died.

I have bought some pants recently and I really love them.

Have you experienced menopause yet?

Ugh I hate shopping today. I am rewearing all of my old stuff and making it new again. Even expensive brands have too much poly. I am 40 and have kids. I try to stay away from poly and barely buy anything anymore.

Why don't you like poly?
