Forbes had an SAT cutoff for the list of schools they gave the c-suite to evaluate, so did not include the UCs because they are test-blind

How did they adjust for the % of test optional students?

They don't nor does USNWR

I do think US News should get an estimate for each TO school, instead of publishing the fake SAT score range reported.

Without a doubt

People are way too involved in this.

All of these schools are outstanding and our kids would be lucky to go to any of them.

There's more than one category of "great school". New ivies and ivy plus are all great educations.

The only issue is it's too hard to get in to these new ivies/ivy plus schools!

I think they should lower the average SAT scores of those schools with 30% test optional students by 100 points!

Princeton, Duke, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Chicago, Columbia, Rice, Cornell, Michigan, Emory, Notre Dame, Williams, Swarthmore, Pomona, Amherst, Bowdoin, Harvey Mudd are all test optional - in theory, but definitely policy. Berkeley and UCLA won't even look at test scores. These are all great schools with top students. Of course, most of these are test-preferred and you'd have to be pretty amazing in everything else to get in without submitting a SAT/ACT score. But it is possible to get in to a good school without submitting an SAT/ACT score. I'm pretty sure though almost all submit AP scores if they choose to not submit SAT/ACT scores.

Wasn't expecting that to be the thrust of it.

How is that documented? And are the ivies or other schools not doing so? This seems impossible to discuss at the moment.

Emory is a low semi target. Northwestern is a high semi target. Both struggle a bit to place into NYC rather than regionally (Atlanta/Chicago).

It's pathetic how many moms here think a job on Wall Street is the end all be all for their children.

They're both targets and Emory places 46% in the northeast. A low semi target would be ucla, Cmu, washu etc.

Chill, Emory mom. Emory is a low semi target. 46% going to the Northeast does not mean 46% going to NYC.

Theres only 2 cities in the northeast with IBD jobs porzingous. If its not NYC its Boston either way. Wallstreet isnt the barometer of whether a school is a target or not. Emory is a target for IBD jobs whether its Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, or NYC. Everything else is BS.

It’s not NW you moron. And it’s not a target.

I pray to not have to tolerate another round of Emory mom defending the indefensible. Prayer not answered.

I’m recently retired from an investment firm and have done lots of hiring over the years of graduates of many of these great schools and others. It’s ridiculous to think that a graduate of one school has an advantage over a graduate of another just based on the school. These schools help get you in the door for an interview and then it comes down to all the factors that you’d expect.
