I can definitely see Israel doing something like that as it would be a great pretext to bring public US involvement in regime change. |
I know a LOT of Iranians and I don’t think any of them would agree with the bolded. They aren’t all supporters of the Shah — lots of debate about that — but literally nobody supports the Ayatollah. The frequency of executions and disappearances make the bolded simply impossible. Where are you consuming that propaganda from? |
This is really unbelievable. You really think life for women is better in Iran than in the United States? Maybe if you are a man who likes subjugating women. In Iran women: Must be fully covered in black from head to toe with only their face showing or can face up to 74 lashes since flogging is legal in Iran. Are not able to travel without the consent of their husbands. Men are able to divorce a woman while woman have to prove a hardship to get a divorce Men get custody of the children in a divorce. Universities often bar women from nearly 80 different majors, particularly in engineering, computer science, and certain sciences, claiming these fields are "unsuitable" for women’s nature. Major universities have installed facial recognition software at entrance gates. If a student is not wearing her hijab "correctly," the system identifies her and automatically blocks her student ID card, preventing her from entering campus. She is then flagged and can be picked up by one of the white vans of the morality police. If a woman commits adultery the punishment is death by stoning. Specifically a woman is buried in a pit up to her chest (men are buried to the waist). The stones used must not be so large as to kill the person in one or two blows, but not so small that they cannot be called stones. This is intended to ensure a slow, painful death. In court hearings a woman's testimony is only worth HALF of a mans. The man is officially by law head of the household and obedience by the wife is mandated. A man can forbid his wife from leaving the house and is allowed to use up to moderate physical force to get his wife to comply including if the woman doesn't want to be intimate. There is no law against spousal rape. Additionally for all Iranians Drinking alcohol can lead to 99 lashes Having intimate relations without being married can lead to lashings Gay men who have intimate relations receive the death penalty. LGBTQ+ supporters can be sentenced to death on charges of "spreading corruption on earth". |
The PP who wrote what you are responding to doesn’t consider women as fully human, so is fine with how they are treated under the current Iranian government. |
I mean Mossad is openly saying that they are involved in the ongoing protests in Iran. What's not to believe? I don't disagree with your latter point that Mossad is willing to use violence against civilians though |
So that means you are supporting the regime and opposed to the protesters then? It is now rumored that the regime has started executing prisoners. Are you in favor of that? |
|
You can oppose Mossad’s involvement in Iran as well as oppose the current regime. Let the Iranians bring about their own revolution and elect a leader of their own free will who will
put their national interests ahead. Mossad isn’t some benevolent entity who wants to ‘free’ Iranians. They just want a puppet placed there like the Shah so they can control that region and get access to the oil and gas. The US and Israel have no business being part of these protests. |
It is astonishing to me how you center your personal feelings about the US and Mossad over the experience of Iranians who have suffered under a horrific authoritarian government. Do you know any actual Iranians? Ever talk with any? Had conversations about what they think about what is going on? For context I am a Trump-hating moderate that’s been disgusted by the moral emptiness of the progressive left for some time, but the absolute narcissistic and trash takes I’ve been seeing from progressives on the Iranian revolution have really taken the cake. |
The bolded is a totally laughable statement. The rest of your statement is ridiculous. The people there are literally starving. Inflation in Iran is a persistent crisis, with recent annual rates around 42-52% and much higher food inflation (over 70%), driven by sanctions, currency devaluation (Rial hitting record lows), budget deficits, mismanagement, and reliance on costly imports, leading to severe economic hardship, social unrest, and protests over soaring prices for essentials. You are either a plant for the Iranian regime or someone who knows nothing about the country. |
Then we should bomb Israel to save Gaza. |
Go away to a pro-Palestinian thread. This one is about Iran and the people revolting against the regime. Stay on topic. |
Israel has killed tens of thousands of Iranian with airstrikes, placing bombs in crowds, assassinations, using of remote activated machine guns, blowing up it embassies, etc. Also Israel’s has manipulated the US in to joining its efforts to kill Iran- placing sanctions, bombing, etc. You pro Israelis hate the Iranian people because they stood up to your oppression and genocide. Iranian know about genocide through starvation having lost a quarter of their population during WW2. I wish people like you would put the interest of the Iranian people and the US first but that will never happen. |
+100. PP sounds like a salivating Zionist apologist who needs to stop pretending to care about the Iranians. |
The more the merrier, in pursuit of a goal desired by all civilized people. |
Mossad uses violence against those who use violence against Israel. Most people consider that a good thing. |
