We loved the cost of living in the south but got tired the burglaries and gunshots near our $500,000 neighborhood and the rigid social hierarchy based on family linage that meant there wasn’t a circle of friends open to us. The wait for doctors was not great either. I’d spend four years in college there though. |
There’s a TV series on right now about sororities and I was waiting for them to feature someone rushing for Divine 9. They didn’t feature any of them of course. |

Because degree mill state schools are all the same — nobody in real life gives a shit about the alleged differences between a UMich Rutgers and Bama kid. Engineering programs are all the same. Pre-med is all the same. Business is business.
All things being equal kids want to go to a FUN school filled with HAPPY peers in a SUNNY region. |
You picked large public schools, of course they are more similar then different. You need to compare them against the selective private top 50. That's where the best and brightest gravitate to. |
| Roll Tide!! Great game so far! |
Those are certainly some words. Not much meaning there, but lots of words, all spelled correctly too. Good job, PP. |
Is PP paid by the post? These constant propaganda posts are exhausting. |
Your comment makes no sense. If that was the case then Alabama would have much lower acceptance rates than its 75%…Ole Miss would certainly be lower than 98%. I mean UConn is in a fairly unexciting cold area in a tiny state yet it receives 63,000 applications (more than Alabama) and has a 54% acceptance rate. |
You acceptance rate & yield wackos are so creepy and WEIRD. People in real life do not care. Colleges in the south do not RIG their stats and CHEAT like the schools in the north and New England are constantly busted doing. Maybe next you can tell us about all the Nobels and Rhodes winners. NOBODY freaking cares. This is not stuff normal people think about. It is certainly not something any smart teen kid considers when selecting a college. |

Bamaranked at #170 ??? No way !
Bama will be in the Top 10 today after beating them Dawgs yesterday ! |
All the gigantic degree mills in the Big Ten ACC SEC and Big12 are put into the same bucket. I know that makes you insecure strivers crash out but it’s the truth. An engineering degree from Michigan Ohio State Georgia Bama Maryland Arizona State Utah CU Boulder … all treated the same. Nobody cares. |
It’s the sunny weather and Conservative coded Southern traditions. Going to college in the snow belt sucks; it’s literally depressing. The sun makes kids happier and healthier. |
| The Sun Belt from North Carolina to Arizona and Southern California has been exploding with population growth, while the upper Midwest and Northeast has been bleeding its native population. Why wouldn’t college enrollment follow suit? It’s only logical. With modern HVAC all the formally miserable dorms and lecture halls are always perfect. |
The former Lockheed Martin CEO is a Bama grad and they recruit heavily on campus. Hewson is a big donor. Again, a smart kid can do well at Bama and do it for free! https://abhof.culverhouse.ua.edu/member/marillyn-a-hewson/ Her contributions to her alma mater are significant. In 2018, she and her husband, James Hewson, gave $15 million to support the construction of a new 108,000-square-foot building for the Culverhouse College of Business. The building will be named Hewson Hall in recognition of their generosity. The College was also the beneficiary of a $5 million gift in 2017 to support innovation and education in data analytics through an on-campus computing and collaboration center that bears her name. |
Roll Tide! ❤️❤️❤️ |
